Every branch of the U.S. military is struggling to meet its fiscal year 2022 recruiting goals, say multiple U.S. military and defense officials, and numbers obtained by NBC News show both a record low percentage of young Americans eligible to serve and an even tinier fraction willing to consider it.
The officials said the Pentagon’s top leaders are now scrambling for ways to find new recruits to fill out the ranks of the all-volunteer force. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks consider the shortfall a serious issue, said the officials, and have been meeting on it frequently with other leaders.
“This is the start of a long drought for military recruiting,” said Ret. Lt. Gen. Thomas Spoehr of the Heritage Foundation, a think tank. He said the military has not had such a hard time signing recruits since 1973, the year the U.S. left Vietnam and the draft officially ended. Spoehr said he does not believe a revival of the draft is imminent, but “2022 is the year we question the sustainability of the all-volunteer force.” ...
An internal Defense Department survey obtained by NBC News found that only 9% of those young Americans eligible to serve in the military had any inclination to do so, the lowest number since 2007.

I once heard it said that “A nation which despises its troops will have a despicable army.” Well, the people in charge certainly don’t like the armed forces, and seem to think they are good subjects for social experimentation. And they don’t like the police, either.
Odd, an NBC article that fails to mention the military top brass hate white people, hate conservative people, hate people who believe in the USA and love queers, butches, dykes, fairies, and trannies. I would have thought they would have uncovered those root causes.

Veteran 68-76 here. I tell any young man or woman who is thinking about a career in the military to learn a trade, get experience and work towards your own business. But buy and own guns and become proficient with them because the battlefield will eventually be right here in this country.

Good. Time to close bases overseas and send our boys back home at the southern border. Esp. Europe where we have to “defend” the euroweenies..

Notice how Ukraine is hamstrung by the fact that it doesn’t have nukes or the vast majority of the weaponry to which the Russians lay claim. For us to win, we need everything from the basic M-4 carbine to Ohio class submarines with the full complement of SLBM’s. That won’t happen if only Democrats and progressives serve in the military.
If the war you envision comes into view, we will need more than our personal weapons to prevail. That’s where control of the nation’s arsenal, conventional and nuclear, comes into play. When Biden says Democrats will crush Republicans with F-15’s and nukes, he’s assuming they’re the only ones with F-15’s and nukes. And it’s patriotic young Republicans and conservatives interested in things military who will deny Democrats and progressives a monopoly on this loaded gun pointed at our collective heads.

IMO, the type of ‘resistance’ or ‘fight back’ you describe won’t be possible. Too much Federal money and brownshirt agency intrusion to allow that. Those people aren’t stupid. It’s why they’ve removed every top possible future cross-sider from its hierarchy and installed wokes like Ms. Milley at the JCS on down.
I really am not talking about anything within the realm of preserving the union of the status quo with just new leaders (which the left in charge will work their best to stop.) I am really talking about what will happen on the way back to square one.

You know how even a tightly-controlled police state like the Soviet Union fell apart? Nationalists* kept their real feelings hidden while operating at the apex of the Russian empire. Yeltsin himself was a top level member of the nomenklatura, the Soviet elite. When he saw a little daylight re an opportunity to seize power, he took it.
People aren’t pawns on a chessboard. They will burrow into a job they like, entrench themselves, and lie their butts off to keep it. And when their superiors cross them in a way that they simply cannot abide, they will gut them from stem to stern.

I think you spend too much time in reflection on history gone and irrelevant AND with comparisons of what’s happening with Ukraine, myself.
This country has devolved far beyond classic norms and reasoned approaches, IMO. The only thing left is to preserve personal response while working withing the framework within a crumbling nation. That cannot be accomplished by being one of its military fodder pawns who are test subjects for “vaccines” and “wokeism”.
Even the concept of secession is impossible because EVERY state is INFESTED with leftist scum in Democrat major cities in each that rival the numbers in the rest of the state. How do you ‘secede’ that? Why in hell would you even put this problem within the context of Ukraine or otherwise?
I will still say to any young man or woman as I said before. Forget the military. It is not only the extension of a horribly controlling administration it will ever follow the Constitution in the end. No good will ever come from that.
