IMO, the type of ‘resistance’ or ‘fight back’ you describe won’t be possible. Too much Federal money and brownshirt agency intrusion to allow that. Those people aren’t stupid. It’s why they’ve removed every top possible future cross-sider from its hierarchy and installed wokes like Ms. Milley at the JCS on down.

I really am not talking about anything within the realm of preserving the union of the status quo with just new leaders (which the left in charge will work their best to stop.) I am really talking about what will happen on the way back to square one.

You’ve left out the role of guile. Maybe you believe everyone’s like you - a straight shooter who says whatever he feels, anytime he feels like it. Plenty of people know how to bide their time. There are people who understand the need to put up a facade while undermining their adversaries. Not everything’s a standup fight.

You know how even a tightly-controlled police state like the Soviet Union fell apart? Nationalists* kept their real feelings hidden while operating at the apex of the Russian empire. Yeltsin himself was a top level member of the nomenklatura, the Soviet elite. When he saw a little daylight re an opportunity to seize power, he took it.

People aren’t pawns on a chessboard. They will burrow into a job they like, entrench themselves, and lie their butts off to keep it. And when their superiors cross them in a way that they simply cannot abide, they will gut them from stem to stern.

* Leonid Kravchuk kept his dream of an independent Ukraine to himself even while rising to the top level of the Soviet elite. When the Russian empire was teetering on the edge of the abyss, he gave it a little nudge, at great personal risk. https://archive.ph/7kxSe

My basic point is that loyalty tests don’t really work. People believe what they believe. It’s mostly baked in the cake by the time they reach adulthood. If they like a given job, they will lie to get it and to keep it. You might say that’s unethical. But more unethical than imposing a loyalty test like wokeism on an organization sworn to defend the nation from its enemies? More unethical than the left’s preparation for the imposition of totalitarian dictatorship on the nation? As Churchill once said, in a different context, “In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.”
