Holy crap - that sounds critical
I’m disgusted with my brother for encouraging his youngest son to join the military. He’s a great kid and I don’t want him serving under these corrupt politicians. The people running the government and military cannot be trusted with the life of my family member. I hate that it’s like that but that’s the truth.
Yeah, but they’re still playing carrot and stick with the job roles they offer to Recruits.
They get ‘em good and gassed on something like being trained as an electrician, then there’s some piece of paperwork that isn’t done, yet, so they can’t pull the trigger on it, and by the time that piece of paperwork does get in there, the electrician role isn’t available, anymore, but “Oh, well, there’s a network comms role you can be trained in,” except there’s some other thing that needs to get done, first, and by the time it’s done that role isn’t available, either, but — never fear — you can train as a loadmaster...
So, the recruiting process becomes this descending spiral from learning a trade while serving that could become a life-long private business after separation from service, to learning something much less marketable for which your only post-service role would be as an employee.
