Really interesting stuff from National Review's Eliana Johnson, whose latest campaign dispatch sheds light on just how close Newt Gingrich has become with the presumptive Republican nominee -- and how hard the former House Speaker is said to be lobbying behind the scenes for a spot on the ticket. Are you ready for Trump/Gingrich 2016, America?
Gingrich has, in effect, launched his own campaign to secure the nomination. I think Newt is lobbying to be the vice president, and I think their people are paying a lot of attention to him, says Ed Rollins, a Republican operative and former Gingrich staffer now working for a super PAC supporting Trumps candidacy.*snip*
Gingrich has a reputation for insinuating himself into campaigns by firing off dozens of e-mails brimming with ideas that range from brilliant to insane. While its a quality that has irritated previous presidential candidates such as John McCain and Mitt Romney, sources say that Trump has come to value the former speakers opinions. They talk every day, says a source familiar with the relationship, who claims that Gingrich e-mails Trump, campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and campaign manager Corey Lewandowski countless times a day....Gingrichs influence within Trump World is widespread. Inside Trumps newly established campaign offices in Washington, D.C., his fingerprints are everywhere. Right from the minute I joined we were told that Newt will have his hand in every major policy effort, says one Trump aide. So one of the things I do when Im researching or writing anything, in addition to looking at what Trump has said about anything, I look at what Newt has said.

Shirley that couch has been burned!
I don't care about the campaign. Newt's strength is what he lends to governing with Trump.
He’d be a great chief of staff who can also play traffic cop with the GOP Congressional leadership. VP, I don’t think so.
No, I'm not. Besides being a has-been, he's a loose cannon and he carries enough baggage to sink the Queen Mary.
NO. A role in the Trump Administration...yes. VP...NO!
Damn straight!
Go Newt!
But why should age be an issue for a VP? His main job is to help the presidential candidate get elected. This he would do very well. After January, he could retire and Trump could appoint a new one. And in any case, the successor to the president in 2020 or 2024 wouldn’t have to be the vice president.
There is a You Tube out there that shows a reporter asking Newt Gingrich about his attending the Bohemia Grove secret society meetings. Gingrich had absolutely no reply, he just stood there with his grin staring at the reporter. The reporter asked him three different times the same question and Gingrich did not respond verbally, he just stood there. Kind of telling that Gingrich is a full fledged DC establishment insider in case any one doesn’t already know that. I hope Trump isn’t that stupid.
Donald has broken the immediate control aspect; but those who have imposed the control mechanism over so many are not going to go quietly in the night. Their false premises have to be both exposed and fully refuted, even--or especially--while they are screaming the loudest.
No...
That’s what I’ve said, he’d be better on staff.
Trump should pick a woman for VEEP.
You’re wishing for people in their workplace to be bombed?
The source of the story is not the friend of the party, so it is more likely these ‘authors’ want to stir up disagreement, rather than Newt is Trump’s choice for veep. Trump is capable of seeing talent and experience and how and where to use it. Newt will be somewhere in the Trump administration, but not likely in the veep slot where it would not be powerful enough to make changes like The Donald wants to make.
Nope ... Alan West !
Newt is a better SOS
hahahahaha.
That would be OK, but I think a GOOD VP has a better chance of winning than a new candidate.
YES YES YES
Chief of Staff, not VP.
Eh, it’s just rhetoric...I hope their demise - as a viable organization - is soon and total - they are mouthpieces for the elitist oligarchs that have run this nation into the ground for their own personal benefit.
