But why should age be an issue for a VP? His main job is to help the presidential candidate get elected. This he would do very well. After January, he could retire and Trump could appoint a new one. And in any case, the successor to the president in 2020 or 2024 wouldn’t have to be the vice president.

That would be OK, but I think a GOOD VP has a better chance of winning than a new candidate.

Whatever Trump accomplishes in eight years is more easily unravelled if he is not followed by like mindedness and the VEEP is the logical next in line after a presidential stint.
