Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.

The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.

The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn't sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.

My close friend is frantically trying to get info. One of her family members is a Texas Ranger, and was on base for the ceremony...most likely where this took place. I wonder wth the Rangers were there for?????? Did they know something ahead of time ?

Two man teams entering a base full of military members could make great use of grenades.

I would imagine if this was the work of an organized terrorist operation, they would have had them.

In fact, with grenades, you may have been able to get in and get out of the base. You’d likely be tracked down, but you could get in, do quite a bit of damage, and get out again.

Not sure this is terrorism. Maybe not even a drug cartel. My money is that its a couple of nuts.

Even the Columbine kids were thinking along the lines of explosives. Why wouldn’t an organized terrorist group?

I'm hearing they captured one, that there either is or has been a fire fight with a second (who may have been killed), and they are still looking for/considering a third. Fog of war right now. We'll, know more later.

We know that these terrorists have been wnting to do this. It may end up being something else, but given the nature of what happened, until shown otherwise, I am presuming jihad. As I said, hopefully other bases are all on heightened alert and security.
