That would make a lot of sense. She divorced her first husband in absentia so she could marry her other husband. Or this was to help with the divorce filing. Someone said they got a divorce in March of 1964, so right after this document.

No, it doesn't. Kenya became "fully independent" in 1963, formed a Republic under an elected temporary government, and then elected a permanent government under a republican form in just under a year. What did they call themselves in the interim? The Land of Kenya? How about the temporary, semi-established Country of Kenya. Joe's Tavern?

The original 1963 government was not a Republic.
It wasn't one until 1964.
You can see here it is not called Republic of Kenya, it is simply Kenya.

The document you see is a certified statement that the facts attested to are as recorded in the specified book and page number. Normally such a document is accepted at face value as a “Birth Certificate”.
