Trailer: ‘Creation’ — ‘You’ve Killed God, Sir’
Watching the trailer it looks as if they are trying to give a human face to Darwin that seems a bit hard to imagine. The characters are glorified to the point of sticky-sweet perfection which, of course is Hollywood.
Judging strictly from the trailer, the message seems to be that Darwin's "science" was perfect knowledge and religion is finally unmasked as the true heresy... more of the same but with a pretty bow on top.
The foregone conclusion follows mainstream education in America: that Evolution is science fact and not science theory. All that remains is the nail in God's coffin to make it official.
'Course, you Evo's can start your hollerin' that this is only the trailer and if we misled Christians would just watch it we would understand Chucky D the way you do... We don't already know what the Hollywood spin is??? Strange we would make assumptions about Hollywood based on everything we've seen for the past few decades, but I rekon I will. Umm-Hmmm.

Let me help... Evolution is a fact. The Theory of Evolution (a theory) explains the mechanism by which Evolution (a fact) takes place. This is the overwhelmingly dominant paradigm in biological science. There are virtually no credible, credentialed biological scientists - ones who actually work in the field (full disclosure - I am one) that do not embrace Evolutionary Theory. Go ahead and post the list of mechanical engineers and dentists that are creationists, or even the names of the rare biological scientist who have signed on to the Discovery Institutes’s rather misleading position paper - I cannot speak to their motives. But a certain segment of any population simply are going to be contrarian, after all, fully 6% of Americans believe the moon landings were a hoax. Go figure.

In mature scientific fields, absent evidence that cannot be integrated into the existing paradigm, consensus is what is assumed to be, an operates as, truth.

It'd be nice to see the biologists being a little less doctrinaire, given that even Newtonian gravity is coming into question (dark matter, let alone relativity).

The ToE is an interpretation of the fossil evidence, and only one at that.
There are virtually no credible, credentialed biological scientists - ones who actually work in the field (full disclosure - I am one) that do not embrace Evolutionary Theory.
Which is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Anyone who does not toe the party line is not considered a *real* scientist, a credible, credentialed scientist. It's science by consensus. Toe the party line or lost your credibility, and your job.
But a certain segment of any population simply are going to be contrarian, after all, fully 6% of Americans believe the moon landings were a hoax. Go figure.
And what's that got to do with the discussion?
And 500 years from now, if we make it that far, people will bust a gut laughing at that assessment of science as we know it today.
Consensus is NEVER the means to determine truth. Truth stands alone and is not determined by popular opinion.
Your theories cannot be supported by the evidence. It is observable that the Earth is not flat, nor is it the center of the solar system.

When your kids are sick, do you take them to a *real* doctor, a credible, credentialed doctor, or to someone who has bucked the trend and is practicing medicine sans degree out of their garage?

Okay, how about this - coming from the viewpoint of someone who considers himself spiritual, but not beholden to any one religion...
I agree with you that things evolve all the time - how can one not agree? Common sense, history, and our own eyes tells us as much. That being said, however, would you not agree that evolution has a design to it, that it is not random, or at least was not random at the outset? I just have a very difficult time beleiving all of this, us human included, are accidental and random in the manner in which we’ve evolved.

As an aside, consensus is when Obama is voted into office... If stormer believes consensus represents truth and Obama was voted in by a consensus (and there are plenty of other examples), then it follows that stormer is then a liberal who had to, in good conscience have voted for Obama.

And we all know how *reliable* that is, don’t we... :-)
What is going on with AGW and also with the false worldview of Evolution — is simply — political control and domination over people, nothing more and nothing less...
You can see that so-called “science” (as if that’s something marvelous and miraculous... LOL...) is simply a “tool” used to fool and deceive people. It’s being used exactly that way by the *same kind* of so-called “scientists” who want to “convince” people that there is global warming, that it’s the fault of the people, and that they must accept “control” over their lives because of this “science” [god] that they present to you... :-)

It has to do with it because of this: it is another way to say that people who believe in Creation are morons just like the folks who believe the moon landing was a hoax. A typical parallel meant to degrade Bible believing Christians.
