Okay, how about this - coming from the viewpoint of someone who considers himself spiritual, but not beholden to any one religion...
I agree with you that things evolve all the time - how can one not agree? Common sense, history, and our own eyes tells us as much. That being said, however, would you not agree that evolution has a design to it, that it is not random, or at least was not random at the outset? I just have a very difficult time beleiving all of this, us human included, are accidental and random in the manner in which we’ve evolved.

You must have faith in the gods of Time and Chance, my son, or you will not receive salvation...or funding.

Who said anything about random? Undirected, yes; random, no. For example, if I randomly throw a ball, it will fall to Earth regardless of the direction I throw. Its downward trajectory is not random - if it were, the ball could continue up, or go right or left. Other factors may come into play (environmental pressures), such as wind speed, updrafts, etc., but the ball will drop.

Isn't it better to research into what the design is instead of just saying that God did it and not doing any research? I have NEVER seen an evolutionist say that evolution is totally random. Only the crevo's go around saying that.
