Dinosaurs frolic with Adam and Eve at creationism museum

PETERSBURG, United States (AFP) - Dinosaurs frolic with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and an animatronic Noah directs work on his Ark in a multimillion dollar creationism museum set to open next week in Kentucky.

Designed by the creator of the King Kong and Jaws exhibits at the Universal Studios theme park, the stunning 60,000 square foot (5,400 square-metre) facility is built for a specific purpose: refuting evolution and expanding the flock of believers in a literal interpretation of the Bible.

"You'll get people into a place like this that you can't get into a church with a stick of dynamite," said founder Ken Ham from his office overlooking the museum's manicured grounds.

Polls consistently show that nearly half of Americans believe God created humans in their present form less than 10,000 years ago. Only about 13 percent believe God played no part in the origin of human life.

Ham does not blame evolution per se for society's ills. He believes that sin has been around since Adam and Eve took their fateful bite of apple about 5,700 years before Charles Darwin published "On the Origin of Species."

But he says the theory of evolution has been used to undermine the validity of the literal truth of the Bible, heralding a dangerous age of moral relativism which can be blamed for everything from racism to the Holocaust.

Located just outside of Cincinnati near the intersection of the states of Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, nearly two thirds of the population of the United States lives within a 650-mile (1,050-kilometer) drive of the Creation Museum.

It is expected to draw at least 250,000 people a year when it opens on May 28.

“....nearly half of Americans believe God created humans in their present form less than 10,000 years ago.”

I’m with you sonic109, I find this VERY hard to believe. I think the percentage of Americans who are that stupid is considerably less. Was a source sited for this nearly 50% percent claim? And I mean a credible source.

It is very clear, is it not, that the Bible proves the age of the universe to be approximately 6,000 years old.”

What a wonderfully detailed study you made. I agree with much of it. One of the disagreements would be your statement of "the age of the universe to be approximately 6,000 years old . Your study documents this age and man's time in it but not the age of the universe or of this earth.

The universe is ancient, the earth is ancient. The Bible does not tell us this earth is only 6,000 years old. God tells us that "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. He didn't say 6,000 years ago but "in the beginning". Science tells us that was millions or billions of years ago and the Bible doesn't disagree with that.

Then He tells us that, "And the earth (was/became) without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. Isaiah 45:18 tells us that "....he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited..."

If He created it to be inhabited why had it become without form and void? There was an age before this one just as there will be one after ours. In that first age Satan, who had been loved by God, rebelled and took 1/3 of God's children with him (Rev. 12:4). God didn't want to kill His children so He destroyed that age. The earth remained but was really shaken up. (There were no flesh men in that first age. Their bodies must be as ours will be in the eternity)

The last 1/2 of Gen.1:2 is when this present, 2nd. age, began - And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

I have the time of this present earth age about 14,000 years. Peter tells us that "to the Lord a day is as 1,000 years." Using that yardstick the "6 days" would be 6,000 years. Adam was formed on the 8th day so add 2,000 = 8,000, then add the 4,000 to Christ = 12,000 then add the 2,000 since His crucifixion = 14,000 years.

This is such an interesting subject. There are many more scriptural references about this time. I would enjoy discussing them with you if you are interested.

I’m guessing that he was mostly used to riding a stegosaurus, and just never made the adjustment.

“For too long the secularists in DC have been chipping away at the Christian foundations of this Great Nation, i dream of a day when this is reversed in full.”

Every time someone states this I have a great old sci-fi short novel (novella?) pop into my mind. It was titled “If this goes on” and deals with the country being under the iron heel of a fundamentalist run government. Of course, it being a story, eventually there is a revolution to get rid of it.

That story was written by Robert A. Heinlein.

I agree that it is an interesting subject. That is, the calculation of the biblical interpretation of the earth’s age. However I want to make this clear. I don’t agree with it. I place more credence, actually all credence in the findings of the scientific community over those who would try to use the bible to come to their conclusions about the age of earth, the universe and heck, my tennis shoes.

I agree. I put quotes around the whole passage and included a link at the bottom. Its not mine. I just thought it was interesting. I posted to guy who sounded curious about how this 6000 year figure was arrive at.

Abortion is another case where both sides are driven by strong emotional reactions.

One more side: You should see how the babies feel about abortion.

The rest of the drivel about “emotions” is stupid.

How bout this. It is claimed by many that the bible is the literal word of God. In other words, since God is perfect then the bible is perfect. There are those who believe that the bible is inspired by god. I fall into this camp. I don’t think that God gave dictation. The bible is a very human tome. Its imperfect. And God wanted it to be that way. For starters, if God had at the time of the writing of the bible, said to its authors all about astro physics, evolution, anthropology, indeed the meaning of life and all the answers to everything, wouldn’t the peoples of time kinda gone “what the heck are ya talking about God?”. Secondly, he is like the magician that refuses to reveal how his tricks are done. The magician knows that if he reveals the truth about his tricks then he ceases to be relevant in the minds of his audience. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think this means he ceases to be relevant. Just in the minds of his audience and to their own detriment. So God inspires people. I believe God gently guided the hands of Einstein, Darwin, and others just as much as he did Mathew, Mark, Luke and John.

And while you have groups of people agonizing about how such large quantities of lint have accumulated in the navel, trivial matters are occurring such as:

1. A worldwide terrorist threat spurred by radical Islam

2. Wide open invasion across the southern US border

3. A borderline insane regime in Iran hell bent on acquiring nuclear weapons to place on developed delivery systems

4. An out of touch political aristocracy on that Versailles on the Potomac who is playing politics with the lives of soldiers and deciding policy by what will further entrench the existing power structure Carry on. Arguing about a privately funded museum is much more important.

You laugh at God in your statement, and you forget of the ridiculously funny impossible proposition of rain on rocks and lighting creating life as we know it.

But let us not forget nothing exploding into everything first, now that is funny.

What is sad is I must fund your religion in schools, and these folks started a museum with private monies.

"It is not the teeth that tell what they eat, but what is in their stomach.

That is how we discovered that certain tooth types can be reliably and consistently linked to specific diets. Through the examination of stomach contents and wear patterns we also determined that certain food types leave specific marks on he teeth. Stomach contents, or rather the attributes of the food in stomachs such as coarseness, when compared to the digestive processes in a specific organism tells us what kind of teeth are 'necessary' for that organism to properly digest the food.

It is our experience with extant organisms which allows us to conclude with a very high degree of certainty the diet of extinct organisms.

"T-Rex could ear meat and leaves."

Eating leaves would be a simple matter for most animals, however, digesting leaves and extracting energy from them is not.

Carbon, oxygen and nitrogen isotope analysis performed on the chemical composition of tooth enamel also allows us to determine what animals as long ago as 400,000 years were eating and what their environment was like. Even that far back tooth types and diets match.

Dinosaur is a new word of about 175 years or so. Dragon is one word refered in the Bible to large animals.

In Job: 40

"15": Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

"16": Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

"17": He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

"18": His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

You can interpret any way you wish but please explain what know living animal has a tail as large as a ceder tree, let alone the rest of the statement.
If you read further in the same chapter you will see reference to the beast drinking up the river Jordan, sounds like a large animal to me.

Now this was after the global flood of Noah's day. It is speculation on many that if the animals were baby's at the time of the flood they would eat less, sleep longer during their 1 year stay on the ark. This would allow for more animals kinds, which would repopulate the earth with different varieties as populations became isolated as ice melted and continent masses became defined.
Also having young animals would allow them to live longer after the flood to propagate more.

Why is it stupid drivel?

I said that both sides of the abortion argument are more charged with emotion, that’s all. It’s certainly true.

Evolution does not seek to answer how life began, only how it has changed. Do not fall into that commonly-held, but inaccurate, tarpit.
