The following statement from Swift Boat Veterans for Truth concerns an article appearing in morning edition of the Boston Globe:
"Viet Vet Captain George Elliott describes an article appearing in today’s edition of the Boston Globe by Mike Kranish as extremely inaccurate and highly misstating his actual views. He reaffirms his statement in the current advertisement paid for by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, Captain Elliott reaffirms his affidavit in support of that advertisement, and he reaffirms his request that he ad be played.

The article by Mr. Kranish is particularly surprising given page 102 of Mr. Kranish’s own book quoting John Kerry as acknowledging that he killed a single, wounded, fleeing Viet Cong soldier whom he was afraid would turn around.
“Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has more than 250 supporters who are revealing first hand, eyewitness accounts of numerous incidents concerning John Kerry’s military service record. The organization will continue to discuss much of what John Kerry has reported as fact concerning his four-month tour of duty in Vietnam.”

The "Kerry Lied" Swift Ads are on the Air in their target states and are being
replayed on nationwide news channels. They are probably working beyong the
wildest expectations of their sponsors. They only need to influence 1 or 2 percent
of the population in a couple States to achieve more that all of the Bush negative
Ads have accomplished to date.
The book version of the "Kerry Lied" hit Ad, "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry," has already reached number one on the bestseller list on Amazon.com, based on advance orders.
Channels like the Drudge Report and folks like Hannity are giving the story massive publicity in the Repub community. There are now 2 sides
of the John Kerry war record. On the one hand, he maybe a war hero,
on the other, he maybe a lying, self-promoting, war criminal.
These HIT Operations almost almost work, because the point is to cast some
doubt over the issue among swing voters. Just by getting all the main media
to play the Ad and discuss it achieves the objective of turning blatant lies into
"a point of view" in the "fog of war" to which these other Swift-Mates are entitled to. I puts in doubt Kerry's honor, honesty and fittness to be Commander-In-Chief.
The only way to counter-act is a counter-AD which not only distroys the charges and the
credibility of these liars but places responsibility for this campaign of lies squarely with the Bush campaign
-- disgust some of his base and weaken their commitment. That is why
the Bush campaign is so focused on the "WE KNOW NOTHING," tactic.
We cannot accept this bull-crap from the White House press office."
They are WORRIED. More than that, they're SCARED. Keep up the great work, Swiftvets, and don't let them intimidate you!!!

You mean Kerry's biographer, Michael Kranish, DELIBERATELY MISQUOTED AND MISCHARACTERIZED Elliot's statement? Whadda surprize....
Rush read the statement before the top of the hour and now is back after the news.
He just kicked off this hour telling us to strap ourselves in, "it's even worse". Why is he surprised, Rush rhetorically asks. We keep thinking the left has gone as low as they could but they keep going lower.
Right now he's setting up context for those who missed the preceding two hours of his show.
SIT TIGHT, Rush says, as if he has another bombshell to expose how the left crafted a lie here. Listening...

I thought Kerry commanded his own boat, just like JFK. I didn't realize that swiftboats work in groups while patrolling. I listen to Kevin McCollough Radio Show. It was very insightful and cleared up many misconception. Kerry a problem child?
"He was running away with a live B-40, and, I thought, poised to turn around and fire it." Asked whether that meant that he had shot the guerrilla in the back, Kerry said, ''No, absolutely not,"
Ok, so a guy is running away from me and I'm afraid he's going to turn around and fire at me, so I shoot him. Where did I shoot him, in the side? Also, I seem to recall Kerry saying at one point that the guy was looking right at him and he didn't understand why he didn't shoot. So was the guy running away or looking right at him. Both can't be true.
No, it's not too late. On the contrary, this underscores Kerry's deceit and in fact pushes the story even farther into the public consciousness. The ads will continue and now the vets will demand and be granted (yes, they will be granted--certainly not wall to wall, but they WILL be given) interviews and airtime to set the record straight.
You'll see. This was a huge miscalculation by the Kerry camp--and it was the Kerry camp as the author of the Globe lie-filled piece is a Kerry biographer and he's been with the Kerry campaign as they travel. There isn't one doubt in my mind this attack on Elliott was crafted in conjunction with the Kerry people. Unlike the Bush people who really are not affiliated one little bit with the Swiftvets.
