Had I been reading to children and had my top aide whisper in my ear that America is under attack, I would have told those kids very nicely and politely that the president of the United States has something that he needs to attend to, Kerry said.

Yes. Kerry would likley have excused himself, then inflicted a flesh wound upon himself, then put in for a purple heart and requested an immediate transfer to a country less likely to be attacked.

Yes, I'm sure you would have, Mr. Kerry.
But that's rather amusing coming from a guy who thinks
he has Bush beat on morality. See, as I remember it,
Jesus said, "Let the little children come unto me."
And he had more important things to do than Mr. Kerry
ever will.
Now, maybe it would be a valid point if the president had heard of the attacks before they happened and could have
stopped them. But after the fact?

Did you know Kerry was in Nam?
First Down Kerry
This is how I flew above, the jungles there in Nam.
I held the skid and fired my gun, bam bam bam bam bam.
We approached the landing zone, I was the first man down.
First Down Kerry, I was called, Air Cav had come to town.
I designed the Huey, the Cobra, the Jolly Green.
Still I went to fight VC, I was a lean machine.
Swift boats, choppers, bombers too, ah yes I did it all.
For four months I was busy, but still I took the call.
I served with honor, brave, and true, saved so many men.
Viet Nam is safer now, I would go back again.

Clear sign the Kerry Campaign's internal polls are showing him fading fast among likely voters in my opinion.
Dumb thing for the candidate to say.

He would have run out of the room, pushing over the lady in the walker and knocking down kids... just like George Costanza in that episode of Seinfeld.

Yes. This will backfire big time. It just goes to show that Kerry is a "knee jerk - jerk." Seven minutes to collect and keep the calm? Oh ya....that's bad. sarcasm
We really need a "knee jerk - jerk" with his finger on the button.
To: LongsforReagan
I saw that video and Bush did the right thing, even hiding his emotions in order not to panic the children, adults and media in the room. He was brilliant and kerry is scum.

Kerry needs to remember that shortly after 9/11 I was hearing from people of BOTH parties: "Thank-God AlGore isn't president".

In this same speech today, Kerry actually said that the country doesn't want promises, "they want results."
Now where have we heard that before?

Kerry is attempting to distract attention from the swift boat vets. Nice tactical move.
He's familiar with such scorched earth practices.

I thought Bush or one of his staff explained this as deliberate action to keep the kids
and the press calm while the appropriate staff got a handle on the situation. Kerry is confusing motion with action (does the nuance of that escape him?) and would probably rush out into the possible ambush that could have been part of the plot.
Was this abysmal charge planned to counteract the Swift Boat Vets? I find the timing of Kerry's statement troubling.

He was probably told to stay right there until we can figure out where we want to take you and our pilots are ready to take off. They didn't want him to move until they could give him the best protection possible.
