At that rate, it was probably no later than 1956 or so.

No offense, but man are you asking for it today :-)
1960; JFK & LBJ

BTW, LBJ despised Kennedy and wanted to be POTUS, but back then in the days of 'smoky back rooms', the candidate was really picked by the political machines, not the people.

LBJ 'owned' the Senate (and Texas) but Jack's dad had the Mob & the Daley Machine - kind of hard to beat that combo. The rest as they say - is history.

I wonder how much anti-war rhetoric we'll get.

Edwards voted for the war along with Kerry. It will be interesting to see how they finesse it.

"... how does that translate into Edwards not being your Senator because he is running as Kerry's VP, which was my question to the poster who said she was delighted Edwards would NOT be her/your Senator?"

Since you live in Connecticut, you probably don't realize that John Edwards has one of the worst Senate attendance and voting records, along with John Kerry. Edwards has NEVER represented the values of his constituents, but merely followed along the liberal leadership in the Senate. He had such a negative rating in North Carolina that he chose to not seek re-election. He spent the last 4 full years touring outside North Carolina in an effort to become President, forsaking his responsibilities to North Carolina citizens. He will not help Kerry in North Carolina. Both of these pukes' Senate attendance records will be heavily publicized.

I heard O'Reilly say that Cheney's negatives are way high. Why? What and the word has the man done to get negative press? I am dead serious. I don't see why Cheney is being maligned.

This is a big political blunder among all the many the Democrats have created. Announcing his VP 3 weeks before the convention, Kerry may not even get that big bounce the media is hoping he'll get coming out of convention week.

You need to review your history.

If Kerry does win, what really concerns me is the future makeup of the Supreme Court. There have been no new appointments in ten years, and it stands to reason that there could be several vacancies in the next four years. Can you say Chief Justice Hillary Clinton? (without choking)

I really don't think Hill is gonna move this time. She'd be running the risk of challenging a somewhat popular president during wartime, and played as un-patriotic.

She's playing her cards right. If GW wins, she's prime for 2008. If Kerry was to pull it off, I think she'd have no trouble stealing it back in 2008.

Great. So who's going to run the country? LOL. The Dems made such a big deal of Cheney being the 'actual' President since Dubya was allegedly so dumb. Now what defense will they have for Kerry/Edwards? None.

I honestly think Dim internal polling was suggesting that Bush had weathered the storms of this spring that the media had created full-bore against him and that he might sink too far if he waited. Anyone have info to support this hypothesis out there (I know folks who know are here reading this)
