Just in. I am looking at a picture of the WTC with smoke pouring out of the western tower. Looks like a huge amount of damage. Debris raining down on people in the street.

I think that is a great idea... When I couldn't watch any longer (I was at work) Free Republic became my lifeline.

I just found & read this thread todayThere were about four threads running concurrently that day during the attack, and a bunch of others from later. Starrgaizer (sp?) or backhoe had them bookmarked, I think.
To: AZamericonnie
Our computer was not working on 9-11 - so I missed a lot of what was on FR that day. Of course - I was glued to the TV (Fox News, of course) for many days following.
As I read through this thread just now, I got chills running up and down my back
Never forget.....
To: MasonGal; hellinahandcart
I had fallen asleep with Fox news on (bad habit) so as soon as my eyes opened was after the first plane hit. Disbelief at what followed. My staff all called me at home & I insisted that we all show up for work. "The bastards will not change our lives". But they did. In some ways for the better strangley enough. I will no longer take anything for granted...freedom, family, patriotism, faith, life. But I am saddened that my offspring & theirs may never know a world without color coded warnings. A loss of innocence or perhaps naivete. I wish I had my freeper family that day but glad to have them now.

To: AZamericonnie
Thank you for bringing this thread up to the top.
So many have forgotten already. Business as usual.
But not our President. He has not forgotten. Slowly but surely he is taking out those responsible. Afghanistan, Iraq....who's next?

Every so often I check this thread. I know it sounds cliché, but it seems like it was yesterday. I can't believe it's nearly been two years. Never forget.

Have you forgotten...?
I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
Now they say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Now I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fightin' for
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heros in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
And all the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

What a very interesting historical thread. The 9-11 and soon after thread should be printed up as a book. It was a day I'll never forget and I'm very thankful for Free Republic and all the Freepers here .. It was a very scary day for all
I did print this and a few other threads and put them in safe keeping for my children, so they will know what that day was like.
My parents generation always said .. Never forget Pearl Harbor
Our generation will say ... Never forget 9/11
I just pray that our children's generation will never have to say .. never forget ....

Never forget. Never forgive. 9/11 changed everything. It was like a new 100-year war was starting and everybody knew it would last that long.
To: Flyer
Have we forgotten? - Most others have. The generation in charge of America is too self centered and unrealistic to understand what this war needs in order to be accomplished. I dont even know if the vaporization of a city would shock America into reality. Sorry. That is just the way I feel.

This entire thread needs to be in a time capsul or something. And it needs to be broadcast by the media in a manner that reaches many more people than FR reaches.
