Maryland TRT FReeper volunteers helped secure pro-RKBA Ehrlich/Steele(R) victory! (PHOTO thread)
Maryland TRT's 11/5/2002 after action report ^ | November 6, 2002 | Hail Caesar

Posted on 11/06/2002 10:37:38 AM PST by Hail Caesar

Maryland TRT members were on the frontlines, in the cold, pouring rain, until the jublilant end!

Some of the many Maryland Tyranny Response (TRT) patriots and FReepers celebrate with other grassroots campaign volunteers at the Ehrlich/Steele for Governor victory celebration in Gaithersburg, Maryland, right after the polls closed Tuesday night.

Maryland TRT members worked 13 hour shifts at key swing voter polling places for the Ehrlich/Steele (R) gubernatorial campaign in Montgomery County, Maryland on November 5, 2002. The evening rush hour shifts were worked outside during the cold, pouring rainstorm that hit this area last night. This explains the bedraggled appearances of our cold, tired patriots featured in the pictures below. Many Maryland TRT members were too cold and exhausted to attend the victory celebrations after working the polls thirteen hours straight.

Our TRT voluteers continued our highly visible and aggressive pro-RKBA support of "pro-gun" candidates despite the commonly held notion that gunowner rights is not a winning issue for politicians in this county. Well, the TRT proved the pundits wrong today by playing a pivotal role in securing enough pro-RKBA votes to keep the local Kennedy Townsend/Larson (D) voting percentage relatively low enough to insure an Ehrlich/Steele victory statewide. We kept the anti-gun turnout as depressed as possible while staying "on message" throughout this election campaign.

By aggressively pushing a pro-gun, pro-RKBA, pro-freedom agenda here in Maryland since 1999, the non-partisan TRT was the ONLY patriot group to consistently, continuously and openly oppose the anti-freedom agendas of the anti-gun Brady Campaign, "Marylanders Against Handgun Abuse," and the "Million Mom March" organizations. The TRT pressed on, even despite opposition and lack of support from Maryland's traditional gun lobby (NRA, etc.); this at a time when most of Maryland's politicians were also ducking and hiding from publicly debating gunowner rights issues.

The TRT is Maryland's best known pro-RKBA group that OPENLY continued it's pro-freedom, volunteer public service actitivities in Montgomery County during the time that just about everyone else was cowering from the recent "sniper attacks" terrifying the tri-state, Washington DC area.

I was outside the polls and on sign brigade for Ehrlich in Howard County. Started at 5:30am posting signs near polling places, then worked the polls from 7-9am and from 4-8pm in the miserable weather.

Capped off the day by going to the Hyatt in Baltimore for the Victory Party! Took lots of great pictures there (unfortunately not digital pictures though). I was about 6 feet from the podium when our next governor gave his speech at midnight.

Great job one and all. My joy with the defeat of KKT greatly helped lessen the dismay that we could not do the same to Grayout Davis in California, a pandering Rat who will spit on the Second Amendment if it will get him a vote (or a campaign dollar). Kudos!

Great job, too, "mr.sarcastic" - ;-)

Please bump all our fellow FReepers to this thread and encourage them to post Ehrlich/Steele campaign trail photos here, too.

P.S. I think some photo developing outfits can convert your stills to digital format along with regular print services.

I worked for Klima near Dulaney High School (Potspring elem)from 4-8. It was very disappointing- she lost. The good news is her handpickeds won on the ticket. It was wet and miserable and cold but pretty fun. Martha is an incredibly straight shooter who is perhaps the toughest most conservative elected official I know. But she's very tight with Ehrlich, so I think she'll get some sort of job.. I hope.

Thanks for helping Martha and our other pro-RKBA GOP candidates. Though we are sorry she lost, your efforts were not in vain.

Thanks for the great pics.

I and my buddies also worked the polls in upper Baltimore County - was there putting up signs and setting up the materials at 6:30 and was there on and off all day and during the cold rain. But it was worth it when I got the numbers when our voting precinct closed. We had a 70% voter turnout and it was 3 - 1 for Bob. When I called the numbers in at 8:45 they were estatic - numbers already showed way higher percentages than Sauerbray and I think they knew even then we had pulled it off.

Then I dragged my poor tired old body home in front of the fire and had a couple of ice cold beers with my hubby to celebrate as we watched the returns come in.

What a great day in Maryland and across the nation.

You guys did good, real good. Victory is all the sweeter when "the odds are against us and the situation is grim".

Well done!

Thanks for the kudos.

The Maryland TRT was the ONLY pro-freedom, RKBA group that answered the call and publicly defended Maryland's gunowner rights against the Million Mom March demonstration, in front of the Ehrlich/Steele Montgomery County headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, less than 10 days before the elections. Details are posted at this thread:

"TRT patriots rout MMM/AGS/Brady anti-RKBA, anti-Ehrlich gun control rally in MoCo, MD..."

Thanks, Joe. As a TRT member yourself, you know how it is to take a "politically incorrect" and unpopular stand against those who would take away our freedoms. So, this victory is especially sweet.
