It was suggested on another thread by some wonderful freepers who have familiies in the Maryland Metro area, that we start a prayer thread for our freeper families and friends.

Many of us have family and friends in Metro; my wife and I still have plenty of friends there from when we lived there. My aunt and uncle are in Fairfax (mind you, my aunt runs the victim witness program for the Fairfax Co. PD, so I'm even more skittish 'bout her), my brother-in-law, his wife and sons are in Montgomery Co.
I can appreciate the nervousness that everyone there feels; I'm more than glad to add my voice to everyone else's here as they go on high. May the Heavenly Father protect them, and protect us all in this time of great uncertainty.

Thanks, kayak. Will mention my family again.
I have two sisters in Rockville, one very close to the shootings last Thursday, one who works for Mont. Co. PD. I also have a 15 year old niece at a HS in R-ville and a nephew in Hagerstown who works in metro area.
Also, an ex-brother-in-law, his parents and family in Frederick/Poolesville area. Lots of friends still there as I grew up there.

Psalm 5 seems to fit the current situation.
Again, prayers and mental hugs for everyone here.

We appreciate the prayers of all. Folks are definitely jittery about the situation. Our Cub Scout Pack (I'm a Den Leader) just cancelled an outing scheduled for Saturday, even though we're more than an hour away from the heart of the trouble.
The schools here have cancelled all outdoor activities and field trips, so we felt we needed to follow suit.
I'm not minimizing the death of any individual, but when I hear of a shooting outside a nightclub at 2am, or a drug-deal gone bad, and so forth, it doesn't seem personal to me. I just don't have a high-risk lifestyle...but these poor people are gunned down while waiting for a bus, mowing a lawn, putting gas in their vehicle...things we all do. Very unsettling.

And add me to your list.
Thanks.

Psalm 91
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Psalm 91, may it be a consolation to all as it has been to me all these years. Dear Jesus,may Your angels protect all and give them the courage they need to face this unkown assailant.

My sister just called crying. Said they are all OK. Nerves there are so frayed. Here, too, but I'm not in the thick of it, just emotionally.
Praying today for the whole metro area, and all of you there and all our families.
Dear Lord, we beg you, please allow this person to be caught today. Please be with all the families and friends. Oh, please, Lord.

Prayers for the victims and their families. For the law enforcement personnel hunting this killer. For the residents in the Maryland/DC area who are living in the midst of this horror. And my most humble supplication to God to please help us catch this monster.
