Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov argued on Thursday that Russia's latest attacks against Ukraine's power grid weren't aimed at the civilian population, urging Kiev to "end the suffering" of its people by accepting Moscow's terms to end the war. Russia's requests for ending the attacks include Ukraine proclaiming political and military neutrality, recognizing Crimea as Russian territory and granting independence to Donetsk and Lugansk.
Despite millions of Ukrainians currently without power across the country, Peskov told reporters that Russia's military pays "special attention to avoid striking social targets... As for targets that are directly or indirectly related to military potential, they are accordingly subject to strikes," he concluded.

The Ukrainians fought on their own in February and March and pushed the Russians back from Hostomel and Kyiv.

As discostu correctly pointed out, your statement that Ukraine “was joining NATO” is a lie.
Ukraine had applied first in 2008 and was rejected by Germany and France for fear of “provoking Russia”. They did this along with Georgia. 6 weeks after that rejected application, Putin invaded Georgia.
Ukraine was not joining NATO before Putin’s second invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
But now they might.
Putin has in fact made NATO stronger and more United than it has been in decades.
NATO bordered Russia right from 1999 when poland joined. In 2004 Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania joined.
They all requested to join as Russia invades its non NATO neighbours.

Putin’s terms for ceasefire are only to give him time before he comes back and attacks again.
He is the gangster who first grabs your lawn, then your front porch, then grabs more and more. After 2024 he thought he would take the whole house but you pushed him back and now he wants a ceasefire while he still holds your front room and living room.

I notice that of the first 16 comments, only 3 are NOT by previously identified Comrades. Putin must be really worried to have his promoters working on Thanksgiving here in the US where a lot of people will be too busy to spend much time on line.

There are many that think that - Russia’s 1917 moment is fast approaching.
In 1972 Nixon was up for reelection against McGovern. At issue was Vietnam. Nixon had been trying to get the North to a cease-fire for 4 yrs. In Aug, 72, they finally agreed with one requirement - President Thieu had to resign - and then the North would cease fire and allow there to be a national election.
Thieu heard about this and told Nixon and the North that he agreed.
Nixon was facing McGovern who was demanding peace talks. If there was a voluntary cease fire in the war, Nixon could not claim he had defeated the North and McGovern would win the election. Nixon had to stop this if he wanted to get reelected.
He sent Kissinger to see President Thieu and talked and bribed him into withdrawing his offer to resign. This made the North not agree to a cease-fire and it continued the war for 2 more years and then we lost. At the time, Kissinger was willing to do and say anything to the North that would get Nixon reelected.
