You were elected to uphold the United States Constitution and represent the American people in the Senate.
If you vote for this Red Flag Confiscation bill, you will be attacking our constitutional rights to bear arms, attacking our constitutional right to due process, and turning your back on the American voters who trusted you to represent us in the Senate.
This bill would create a federal bribe pot to encourage states to pass Red Flag Gun Confiscation bills. This means SWAT teams would be empowered to show up at innocent Americans doorsteps, demanding they fork over their guns, all because theyve been named a suspected danger to our society.
This is exactly what happened to an African-American gentleman living in Maryland. After a family argument, an angry relative got revenge against Gary Willis by using the state Red Flag Gun Confiscation law to send police to his door. The authorities showed up at 5:17 a.m. and shot him to death.
These Red Flag gun grabs will undoubtedly be used as ploys to get revenge against innocent Americans and will move our country down a dark and dangerous road.
Anyone who tells you that the Graham legislation would not compromise the due process of American citizens is deceiving you.
If that were the case, it could not fund ANY state program currently on the books or any program being considered by any state legislature. Because not one state with red flag gun grabs currently includes due process prior to seizing a gun owners' firearms!
Like all gun control, Red Flag Gun Confiscation Laws will only end up hurting honest, innocent Americans who play by the rules and want to keep themselves and their families safe.
If you go down this road of supporting gun control, you could face HUGE repercussions at the polls. Rush Limbaugh has already begun bashing Republicans after it was reported on Monday that the GOP was getting behind red flag laws. Limbaugh called these laws a pipeline to gun control.
Gun Owners of America has also vowed to support a primary challenger to Lindsey Graham because he introduced this bill. Republicans who vote for this radical measure could be next.
Come next election, I, and many of my fellow American citizens will remember whether you voted to uphold the United States Constitution or chose to cower before the anti-gun mob.
There is also a letter to the President on the GOA website.
WELL, make it appear here, please.
I agree with the premise of this article.
If a Red Flag law does include the ability of a spouse in a domestic dispute, or neighbors and others to vilify someone to the authorities, this is in effect an on-ramp to tyranny.
Checking someone’s background at the time of purchase isn’t as intrusive to me.
Confiscation of weapons already owned, is a massive stop sign for me. If a person does come in contact with the law in such a manner as to make it clear they are a problem, then not so much.
If you commit a violent gun crime, your home should be searched for more guns.
If you are diagnosed with an upper level mental health problem, the same.
Rush is right. The Red Flag law is not for what it is claimed to be, but is a law that sanctions BIG government. The more government the more Socialist our government becomes. For them the Red Flag laws are a two-fer meaning Big government as above, as well another step towards complete gun confiscation.
We have to stop our government from taking away our liberty.
John Adams said “Our constitution is written for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
In other words, so goes morality and faith, so goes liberty.
I agree with them that the way to fight this is in the PRIMARIES, not in November elections (unless people here really thing that Democrats support the Second Amendment more than Republicans).
But even so, I think the BEST WAY to fight this, and probably what Trump is doing, is to give some ground (as it’s hard to convince Soccer Moms to simply suck it up when you have these highly publicized so-called ‘mass killings’ happening on a regular basis - Soccer Moms WILL vote Democrat if they perceive Republicans as not doing something, anything, to SAVE OUR CHILDREN - as they see it).
So what ground do we give - first we DO NOT incentivize states to trample rights. That can never end well...and it is not the job of the federal government. So, maybe enable a federal system with REAL safeguards (like judicial review BEFORE showing up at someone’s door), where violators (i.e., government types) face some real hurt if they step on our rights.
The Dems will never agree to something like that, but we’ll have the high ground, and, hopefully, be able to hold the Soccer Mom vote. Because we’ll sure as hell need it in 2020.
To put it another way, handing the government, all of it, over to the Democrats, thinking that we’re ‘punishing’ Republicans, WILL NOT ACCOMPLISH JACK and will be the fastest way to having our guns either taken from us, or rendered useless (meaning, try protecting your daughter when a rapist breaks into your house and see who goes to jail, you - or the rapist).
Beautifully stated! That truly sums up the entire dilemma.
GOA. What exactly do they do? They can even answer a simple email on membership..
Letter from John Adams to Massachusetts Militia in 1798...
“Should the People of America, once become capable of that deep simulation towards one another and towards foreign nations, which assumes the Language of Justice and moderation while it is practicing Iniquity and Extravagance; and displays in the most captivating manner the charming Pictures of Candour frankness & sincerity while it is rioting in rapine and Insolence: this Country will be the most miserable Habitation in the World.”

As a new member of GOA, I support this statement 100%.

Ping!
Want on or off Linda's fav ping list? Just FReepmail me.
Remember that Linda is up for reelection in 2020.

Is that what the GOPe does? No. They continue to obstruct POTUS and enable progressive Democrats. Given that I feel no sense of party loyalty. After a lifetime of GOP party line voting the Buckley Rule is now dead in my house. Sorry.
We have been "giving ground" for decades. No good has come of it.
NO MORE.
WHAT GUN LAWS ARE WE GOING TO REPEAL?
When do we repeal the 1986 "Hughes Amendment", which has prevented NO crimes?
When do we repeal, in whole or in part, the 1968 "Gun Control Act", which has prevented no crimes but created many "process crimes"?
When do we repeal, in whole or in part, the 1934 "Natinal Firearms Act", which has prevented no crimes but created many "process crimes"?
When do we repeal the "Gun Free School Zones" law, which has facilitated crimes?
WHEN DO THE LEFTISTS "GIVE GROUND"???
You are correct about how this idea needs to be implemented. Also testing in a few states should give us the answer.
The clear issue is that some of these killers tip their hand to a few people and a portion of them should be put through a mental health screen to see if they are capable of doing damage with their right to keep and bare arms.
represent the American people in the Senate
Ignorant.
They were elected to represent their States.
this is an overly wordy letter.
Its really simple- “Dear Senator X, If you vote in favor of ANY new gun control measures, you will lose my vote in the next election. Regards, Me”
You don’t try to reason with your representation. You tell them the consequences of not doing what you require.
“WELL, make it appear here, please.”
Here is a link to GOA’s sample letter to President Trump.

Too bad our Founding Father’s wisdom has been declared the ramblings of racist old white men. History just keeps repeating itself, seems inevitable at this point.
Will the GOA offer $30 million to the Trump campaign as was provided by the NRA? Money talks.
Just talk, though? The politicians don’t care about talk. They want money.
