"If you commit a violent gun crime, your home should be searched for more guns."
"If you are diagnosed with an upper level mental health problem, the same."

My liberties resting in the hands of a crackpot doctor? No chance to state my case beforehand? No right to confront my accuser? I don't think so.

Donald Trump has 'dangerous mental illness', say psychiatry experts at Yale conference

Gun Owners of America has also vowed to support a primary challenger to Lindsey Graham because he introduced this bill. Republicans who vote for this radical measure could be next.

A sternly worded letter doesn't do crap. That's why there is an NRA-ILA. These traitors will ignore you until they (or their fellow travelers) start dropping like flies.

I'll probably join GOA, but am still keeping my NRA membership. Even the NRA needs some competition these days.

Too many problems with red flags.

Mental health isn’t a hard science. Look at “expert” witnesses in court cases. The shrink witness on one side will contradict the witness on the other side. A shrink will say what people pay him to say and there’s no way to prove otherwise since it’s conjecture, not science.

Say Dad is wealthy. Sonny wants the inheritance. Sonny tells authorities Dad is mental and he pays a shrink to confirm that. Authorities come and take Dad’s guns. Sonny hires someone to attack/kill Dad. Dad has no way to protect himself. Cha-ching for Sonny.

It sounds far fetched, but I’ve heard worse on true crime documentaries.

“WHEN DO THE LEFTISTS “GIVE GROUND”??? “

Obama signed the law allowing gun possession in National Parks (as long as it was permitted in the surrounding state). Before that you had to stop your car and bury your gun just outside the boundaries, or risk a federal felony.

Not much, but once in a while we do win. Anyway, I think Trump should get them to OVER-PLAY their hand, and, at the same time, take the high ground from them.

Just saying NO! and HELL NO! will simply get us confiscation thanks to the POLITICAL REALITY of today - Dem President, Dem Congress, with the Second Amendment being TOTALLY IGNORED.

If you guys want to change that reality, how about taking over the public schools, or at least stop sending your kids there...even if they are ‘free’.

Come next election, I, and many of my fellow American citizens will remember whether you voted to uphold the United States Constitution or chose to cower before the anti-gun mob.

I agree with the folks who say we need to put more guns in the hands of Americans, and roll back unduly restrictive gun laws.

We need to see policies that take guns out of the hands of criminals, and pay more attention to mental health issues.

Otherwise we will be on the way to taking guns away from our military veterans, and because some anonymous person pointed a finger at you.

It is too easy for politicians to take guns away from law abiding citizens so they can check that off their list of things to do, and feel good about themselves for taking action. This happens too often!

Democrats are good at mass hysteria; everything is an emergency.

Yep, NO DOUBT that the Democrats, starting with AOC, will protect your Second Amendment rights MUCH BETTER than the Republicans will.

Yep, no doubt.

on the mere suspicion of what some of them *might* do.
= = =

Who knows what I ‘might’ do?

Sometimes I do not even know until the situation occurs. However, at that time my response comes from my core beliefs and principles, which are evident by observing my daily life. There is no sign of ‘crazy’ there, unless a real ‘crazy’ wants to invent one for nefarious purposes.

I can see these Red Flag laws doing way more damage than expected. Jails will be filled with people that have been falsely accused of something, anything for that matter. A pissed off wife, girlfriend, husband, boyfriend. You name it. It will soon be neighbors turning in neighbors. How Soviet.

I agree that a hearing should be part of the process, and a good case should have to be made.

Look, if you rob a convenience store, I think your goose is cooked.

If you have had ongoing serious mental health issues, I think there should some mechanism for review.

Most these shooters have a screw loose.

And, firearms were not the weapon of choice in most killings in the most recent (2017) data. So, “another swing & a miss!”

The shootings will continue as long as they’re looked at as a political problem. Beliefs don’t compel the murder of randomly selected innocent people. It’s insanity that does. The problem is that there’s too much political capital to be derived from blaming ideologies. We need to look at mental illness and the drugs being used to treat it.

Paging former South Carolina GOP Senator Jim Demint! Prissy Lindsey needs a viable Conservative primary challenger in 2020, one who has the name recognition to beat Graham and go on to win the General Election!

That’s why I support GOA materially these days and not the NRA even though I’ve been a life member of the NRA since 1986.

2A? We live in a post constitutional nation. Have you been asleep the past 2 1/2 years? The donor class owned GOP has exactly zero interest in defending our rights. Now fully funding PP and NPR, OTOH, they are all in on.

These Red Flag laws are a real problem. If someone is a danger to themselves and the police can convince a judge the same, that person should be hospitalized. Confiscation won’t stop a determined person from obtaining a firearm. How would the police know they got all the guns without some form of registry.

Which rights have you had taken away by Republicans? I live in Texas, and so far I cannot think of a SINGLE GUN LAW that has gotten worse under Trump, or due to Republicans at the national level (with the tiny exception of bump-stocks, something that no one ever heard of until Las Vegas).

I’ll willing to give the Republicans a chance to f-up before I’m willing to entrust the country to AOC and her judges.
