Don't let 'Never Trump' become 'Ready for Hillary' (Rally 4 Trump - Rally 4 America First)
CNN -opinions ^ | May 7, 2016 | Brett J. Talley

Posted on 05/15/2016 5:32:15 PM PDT by Beautiful_Gracious_Skies

From the article: Donald Trump is the Republican presumptive nominee, but ... you'll read articles urging voters never to support him. Ignore them.

Many of these Trump opponents are principled people. Some fear Trump, ... they believe ... that America and its institutions, ... cannot endure a Trump presidency....

... Trump's most vocal opponents -- prefer a president they can control... Trump is a wild card, and in a race between the devil they know and the one they don't, they'll take Hillary Clinton every time. Another four years of a Democratic president is, after all, good for business. And they aren't hiding it. Some ... have already declared themselves "Ready for Hillary."

... These anti-Trump factions ask Americans to withhold their vote or call on the GOP to commit mass political suicide and pursue a ... more "mainstream" candidate.... even though Trump has swept to victory in states as diverse as Alabama and Massachusetts, and even though mass defections ... will hand the election to Clinton and the Democrats.

Those who argue that another Clinton White House is somehow preferable to ... Trump are blind to the consequences -- for the nation, for the party and for the conservative movement.

A Clinton presidency means a Supreme Court with ... maybe three new liberal justices.

It means a doubling down on the Obama foreign policy that fostered the resurgence of a belligerent Russia, the rise of ISIS and chaos across the Middle East.

It means government agencies from the EPA, IRS, DHS, ... staffed by Clinton appointees, enshrining the executive overreach of the Obama administration into law.

... it means liberalism in ascendancy. We cannot allow GOP elites to hand the future to an increasingly leftist Democratic Party. The country simply has too much to lose. Trump's voters understand that.

The best thing to do is to have everything in the original post, along with the extra you want, and let FR tell you if it's over the limit. I think it says how far over the legal limit for the original news site you went (do note some sites have no limits and you won't be restricted from posting all of it, if so).

When you have the above fitting within the posting limit, cut out the special quotes you want in your separate comment(s) and paste them there. You will now have kept FR from getting a nastygram and you still have some original article AND all of your special quotes where you wanted them.

Sounds cool?

Bill Kristol, an intellectual giant in conservative circles ....
LOL.

I do agree with the author's advice, but with the stipulation that for this purpose, "ignore" means "do not be troubled by." The #NeverTrumpists and fence sitters need to face stiff opposition, my preferred form is ridicule. They are a small force of misfits, incapable of changing the outcome.

It is possible to directly post an article to such an area, but it should not be abused. It’s best to have someone else post your thread there, which it sounds like has already happened.

In the posting area, you can choose “breaking” or “front page,” but you can also do it with the Topics area, afterward.

Thanks for the information, I have never used that section to post an article. So the admin mod liked the article. There are lots of articles that end of there without reason. This one did not belong.

When I left, around post 288, the tone seemed okay, it may have escalated.

That article from the Chicago Times referred to ‘many delegates’ leaving. Another used ‘nearly half,’ but IDK if nearly half = 50 Cruz delegates or 1/2 the entire delegation. Trump had 48 and Rubio a few. There are now dozens or articles on the convention in Dallas, many more than this morning.

I was going to post another related article by a Texan news outlet that interviewed Cruz in Dallas, but decided not to after the thread was pulled. If I find the distinguishable quote within, I will post it and see if the new thread can last.

So the article is long, way over 300 words, if I use this phrase

From the article:

“and then insert a paragraph or two in quotes in my first comment, is that acceptable, or not?”

And the other business with roosgirl refers to another thread this morning that was pulled due to flamewars which were not so bad , IMO.

I have Googled “texas republican convention delegates leave” and I can’t find any articles on it, which does not make sense.

“I was  going to post another related article by a Texan news outlet that interviewed Cruz in Dallas, but decided not to after the thread was pulled. If I find the distinguishable quote within, I will post it and see if the new thread can last.” To what purpose? You have seen what articles like that devolve into.

IMO, no, not acceptable. 300 words total from the article. Read the posting rules I gave you the link for. If you have questions email a mod. Read the copyright list for specific rules for each source.

If you put in a few sentences in the body, you should have plenty left over for the quotes you want in you posts.

I’m sorry if the artice is so good you want more, but it’s not legal.

From this article, they claim Sessions spoke to a crowd, “nearly half the size.”

So Texas delegates fly in for the weekend or drive 3-9 hours to Dallas and they can’t be bothered to listen to Senator Sessions address them. While Jeff speaks, some hold signs that say, “Thank you Ted” And the Delegates are there to represent 3 million R voters from Texas. Yea, don’t mess with Texas.

“Cruz — welcomed by supporters waving “Thank you Ted” signs — didn’t even once utter the name of Donald Trump.”

“And he didn’t talk about a need to unite behind Trump to beat Democratic presumptive presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, which rankled some delegates.”

“I couldn’t believe Cruz didn’t say something about unifying behind the presumptive nominee,” said Pat Carlson, a Fort Worth delegate, Trump supporter and former chairwoman of the Tarrant County Republican Party. “He only gave his campaign speech.”

“But the need to unite behind Trump was mentioned Saturday by a campaign surrogate for the billionaire, U.S. Rep. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.”

“LET’S PUT THIS TOUGH PRIMARY BEHIND US. ... WE CAN AND WILL UNITE.
U.S. Rep. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., a surrogate for Donald Trump”

“Sessions spoke about two hours after Cruz, to a crowd about half the size, but encouraged Texans to rally behind Trump who has promised to address key issues including the economy and immigration.”

“This is a critical election,” he said, as some delegates raised signs that read “Thank you Ted” and “Go Trump.” “The American people are not happy.”

“Let’s put this tough primary behind us,” he said. “We can and will unite.”

Every time I read a story where forces attacked Trump, I have posted it here. This includes Bush, Ryan, Romney, Rubio, Cruz, Preibus, GOPe, RNC, NeverTrump organizations and particular super PACs like OPP.

I continue to watch them. Right now I am interested in what happens to the the tens of millions sitting in super PACs and the $9,562,000 Ted held before he exited the Indiana Primary (according to Jeff Roe.)

Likewise, I have reported on election fraud, delegate poaching, voterless elections, and individual state parties that operate mock elections. This includes a few state senators and election fraud and abuse from past elections.

As long as Cruz refuses to endorse Trump and there exist fdany indicators that he is conspiring against him, I will likely post the material. If all we get is endless name calling, then I will find another place to post the information.

I am aware that Ted owns the majority of delegates on the RNC convention rules committee.

I read the article. Here’s my take, which I know you will disagree with; the held Ted to the last day to speak, a lot of the people that were there were Ted supporters, Ted spoke, they left. I don’t get the idea that people left to be rude on purpose. But, the article says “Cruz was the highlight of the final day.” So some people came for Ted and left when he was done speaking. No great surprise. If the state republicans wanted people to attend to the end of the day perhaps they should have put Sessions in front of Cruz. Sounds like poor planning to me.

It’s only been a week since Ted suspended. As I posted, to sargon I think, in the other thread that got pulled, you want to skewer Ted over not fulfilling his oath to support the republican nominee go right ahead, but how about giving him the benefit of the doubt and at least waiting until we have an actual nominee and not just a presumptive nominee. I see no reason that person won’t be Trump, but really what is a couple of weeks difference going to make? We don’t even have a definite democrat nominee to support anyone against. I can’t believe all the handwringing over this.
