Scott Walker Backs Constitutional Amendment Allowing States To Ban Same-Sex Marriage

WASHINGTON -- Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) said Sunday that he supports a constitutional amendment that would bar the Supreme Court from granting marriage equality rights nationwide.

The Supreme Court is expected to issue a decision this month that could grant, for once and for all, same-sex couples the right to wed across the country. But Walker said on ABC's "This Week" that he would support amending the constitution to protect states that still want to ban same-sex marriage.

"I personally believe that marriage is between one man and one woman," Walker, a prospective GOP presidential candidate, said. "If the court decides that, the only next approach is for those who are supporters of marriage being defined as between one man and one woman is ultimately to consider pursuing a constitutional amendment."

He added that "the decision on defining marriage should be left up to the states."

Same-sex marriage is legal in Wisconsin. Walker has said that he voted for the state's constitutional ban on marriage equality in 2006, which was overturned eight years later by the courts....

Scott Walker: US combat forces not necessary in Iraq now

"Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) is drawing a contrast with one of his 2016 competitors, arguing that U.S. combat troops are not needed now in Iraq.

On ABC News’s “This Week,” Walker was asked whether he would send U.S. combat troops to Iraq now if he were commander in chief.

“No, I believe right now we have a capacity to reclaim Iraq with the Iraqi forces that are there as long as we unleash the power that is already there of the American armed forces,” he said in an interview airing Sunday.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who announced his presidential bid last week, has advocated sending 10,000 U.S. ground troops to Iraq now to fight the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Instead, Walker said the U.S. should “reengage” the strength of the U.S. military forces that are currently in Iraq, thereby empowering allied forces that can reclaim territory. Walker said the strategy should not, however, lead to ISIS terrorists being pushed out toward Syria where they can find safe haven.

Asked if he favors Graham’s approach, Walker initially said, “I think we shouldn't rule anything out.”

Later, he added, “I would not rule out boots on the ground.”

Walker declined to say whether he would rule out a “full-blown U.S. reinvasion of Iraq and Syria.”

“I don't think we should ever send a message to our foes as to how far we're willing to go,” he replied.

The Wisconsin governor said he plans to announce his 2016 intentions shortly after the end of the month."

That has .001% of passing. The odds are even worse that it could take place in under 10 years.

We need to realize that our nation's problem is not political, but spiritual. We have turned away from God.

Only turning back to Him en mass will save us. Nothing else. No amendments, laws, or candidates can save us.

We should also have a constitutional amendment banning pink and green striped unicorns.

Wait, those don’t exist either?

I don’t know how to bring it back. 25 years ago, when me and my friends went out, we dressed sharp, sometimes had a few too many beers and tried to meet gals.
Now they do Molly, heroin, oxy’s and on and on and on.
the rave parties are an insane mix of sex and drugs. we are losing a generation.

“Well, I think it’s a personal decision,” Mr. Walker said on ABC’s “This Week.” “And to me, I don’t know that there’s anything more to comment on.”

That's the thing I most love about Walker: He doesn't get caught up in the media frenzies over these manufactured, nothing-type issues.

“Walker showed us today the same divisive policies that he has supported throughout his career when it comes to the rights of L.G.B.T. Americans,”

It's so funny to see how blind they - the "tolerant" - are of different viewpoints. "Divisive" in their worldview is any departure from liberal orthodoxy. I would respectfully submit that "divisive" is not that at odds with the grating cacophonies of a minority of voices in our own day, but rather that which deviates radically from what has been the norm for thousands of years of human history.

The fool says in his heart, "There is no God" (Ps. 53:1) and that the spirit of the present age: we act as if God does not hear, does not care, does not exist regardless of what we say we believe...

We have indeed turned from the Lord and His statutes, and will on our present path meet with an unpleasant fate. Whether that fate is simple annihilation like the Canaanites or a long and dismal exile as with the Israelites, whom God loved and therefore disciplined, remains to be seen.

The only remedy that I know of is our continued muted, almost hopeless prayers for deliverance. Unlike the intertestament period wherein parents named their daughters "Mara" ("Mary", meaning "bitter"), that deliverance for us may only arrive on clouds of Glory as the Son of Man comes to claim what is his (his church) and separate the sheep from the goats.

Come quickly, Lord Jesus... Come...

I have been shouting it’s a spiritual problem since 2007 all to no avail.
But our time is short and only God can turn it if the people turn and repent and cry out.

The Tenth Amendment to the Constitution already provides for the states to make their own laws. Who in Washington pays one bit of attention to the Constitution any more?

This is a huge nothing burger. In order to be ratified at least 3/4 of the states have to agree. 37 states already allow caesar’s license to be issued to homosexuals. At least 13 of those states, probably more, are overjoyed to do so. A constitutional amendment will not be ratified.

But this is all academic. Caesar is going to do what caesar wants, and doesn’t give a fraction of a damn what we think about it. See tagline.

We also need to realize this isn't going to happen short of much suffering. When people suffer, that is when they notice God again. When they are prosperous, they no longer see the need.

Welll there you go.

The ONLY WAY to protect marriage is via an Amendment.

Hey Ted, did you hear that?
