UNREAL. Obama May Allow US Soldiers to be Tried in the Hague

Unreal. Team Obama may allow US soldiers to be tried in the Hague for war crimes. The Wall Street Journal reported, via Jihad Watch:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed “great regret” in August that the U.S. is not a signatory to the International Criminal Court (ICC). This has fueled speculation that the Obama administration may reverse another Bush policy and sign up for what could lead to the trial of Americans for war crimes in The Hague.

The ICC’s chief prosecutor, though, has no intention of waiting for Washington to submit to the court’s authority. Luis Moreno Ocampo says he already has jurisdiction—at least with respect to Afghanistan.

Because Kabul in 2003 ratified the Rome Statute—the ICC’s founding treaty—all soldiers on Afghan territory, even those from nontreaty countries, fall under the ICC’s oversight, Mr. Ocampo told me. And the chief prosecutor says he is already conducting a “preliminary examination” into whether NATO troops, including American soldiers, fighting the Taliban may have to be put in the dock.

“We have to check if crimes against humanity, war crimes or genocide have been committed in Afghanistan,” Mr. Ocampo told me. “There are serious allegations against the Taliban and al Qaeda and serious allegations about warlords, even against some who are connected with members of the government.” Taking up his inquiry of Allied soldiers, he added, “there are different reports about problems with bombings and there are also allegations about torture.”

It was clear who the targets of these particular inquiries are but the chief prosecutor shied away from spelling it out.

Asked repeatedly whether the examination of bombings and torture allegations refers to NATO and U.S. soldiers, Mr. Ocampo finally stated that “we are investigating whoever commits war crimes, including the group you mentioned.”

The 2010 elections will be crucial. Consider the facts.

- the left is very well organized
- they are very adept at voter fraud
- they will break any law without concern for prosecution
- they will intimidate opposition voters without concern for prosecution
- they control the outcome of the census

Oh what I would give to have a law license at this very moment... The thing is the way our courts are set up it can take WAY too long for a case to get where it needs to be (like SCOTUS) and even THEN SCOTUS can refuse to hear it!

I see what’s coming, like you do... Have ever since election day (was praying it wasn’t before that, but I’ve seen this for a while now - several years in fact, although it’s been faster than I expected with Obama in charge). I don’t know if I’m atypical, but I took the lessons from the generations before me VERY seriously (my relatives who fought and some who died in WWII). Upon marrying my husband who is 100% Polish (3rd gen. American, but all Polish), and with my being adopted and not knowing my ancestors’ history, I started studying Polish history so that I could give my children a sense of heritage and pride in it... In doing so I learned way more about history than I ever learned in school...

Which brings me to what is probably the answer to your question of “Why”? There is that old adage that “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it”, and after the Communists/Socialists started taking over our media and educational system (back in the early 60s or thereabouts) our children have NOT _really_ learned enough about history — just the facts (names, dates & locations), but not the reason behind things that happened in various places and times.

An uneducated populace is VERY dangerous in a society such as ours where our leaders are chosen by the people. I believe that the Communists who started this whole effort have achieved their goals (it has been about 2 generations). The youth of this nation were overjoyed with Obama for the most part because they fell for the cult of personality and have no real clue regarding the issues...

Anyway, I’m babbling on now a little - but I’m angry, too... I don’t want to be pessimistic, and it’s not like I don’t believe that EVENTUALLY we will overcome these people — I just think our younger generations will have to learn the hard way... Plus, as a nation, we are a bunch of wimps for the most part — again thanks to the liberal brainwashing in our schools (both kids getting suspension for a fight on school grounds) - that kind of stuff is what I mean.

I could babble on even more, but I think you and I are on the same page on this... I wonder if there are enough people in this country who are willing to make the sacrifices that would be necessary to stop this tide — unfortunately, I don’t believe the answer is yes at the moment. It’s not “bad enough” for most people, yet. And, as long as people still have food on their tables, and a football game on TV it will stay that way (Think Roman bread & circuses) [Which is why I think it will either be our children or grand-children who MIGHT be able to throw off the shackles... Unless something major happens that effects a LOT of people PERSONALLY.]

Sorry if any of the above was hard to understand — I’m angry and sometimes I can’t express what I want to say clearly when that is the case. Feel free to ask me to elaborate if my post is too confusing! LOL

There IS a tipping point. And there IS a line that will not be crossed.

Getting sideways with the military is what this President does not want to do.

“Also, the American populace wouldn’t stand for it. If he tries this bullsh-t, Obama is toast.”

I think one reason why Hussein’s approval ratings are at an all time low this last week is because of (1) terrorists tried in civilian courts in NYC and (2) Gitmos moving some to Thomson, Illinois and (3) All that other stuff.

I think that the tipping point is at hand.

Conservatives aren’t wimps but we are not organized. By definition conservatives would much rather just be left alone to live their life.

Reeducation camps are coming. Consider what the Univ of Minn is doing.

Wesley Clark would have. So would Colin Powell.

Military leaders do what they are told to do.

Obama May Allow US Soldiers to be Tried in the Hague

The judicial Power of the United States shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish.

The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority; — to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls; — to all Cases of admiralty and maritime Jurisdiction; — to Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party; — to Controversies between two or more States; — between a State and Citizens of another State [Modified by Amendment XI]; — between Citizens of different States; — between Citizens of the same State claiming Lands under Grants of different States, and between a State, or the Citizens thereof, and foreign States, Citizens or Subjects.

End of story.

You have to be nuts or desperate to join the army now.

The high unemployment is the only thing helping recruitment.

I have trouble answering to Americans in authority, much less a Kenyan.

My son is in line to go sometime between January and March. Between the rules of engagement, the fact that there is no victory—only a draw, and now troops possibly charged with war crimes, I would say the military has reneged on its contract. Our soldiers are no longer fighting enemies foreign and domestic—they’re working for them. When the ICC takes allegations by Al Qaeda, the Taliban and warlords seriously, it’s time to get our troops the hell out!

If this happens, if US soldiers can be tried by the very people we’re fighting in international court, then there will be a Revolution in the US. Common enlisted people will then get to choose between court martial for disobeying orders or being dragged to world court for following the orders.

You don't get it. Any general issuing orders that the ICC would not like would ALSO be brought in front of the ICC.

This would make whoever controls the ICC the real Supreme Commander of US forces.

Your real commander is the one who can punish you for violating his will. This measure would effectively put ALL US forces under UN control.
