Is it time to whisper the word 'impeachment' ?
WorldNetDaily ^ | October 08, 2009 | Floyd and Mary Beth Brown

At the tea party in Washington, D.C., a popular sign read simply, "Impeach Obama."

As a moderator of discussion on the blog www.exposeobama.com, Floyd has observed the discussion of impeachment is mushrooming amongst conservative activists.

Radio personality Tammy Bruce may have captured these activists' beliefs about Obama best: "Uultimately, it comes down to ... the fact that he seems to have, it seems to me, some malevolence toward this country, which is unabated."

But has Barack Obama committed an impeachable offense? What exactly constitutes an impeachable offense? Former President Gerald Ford, while serving in the House of Representatives, said an impeachable offense was "whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history."

Article I, Section 4 of the Constitution reads: "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors."

The key phrase here is "high crimes and misdemeanors," a concept in English common law well-known to our Founding Fathers, but grossly misunderstood in this day and age. "High crimes and misdemeanors" essentially means bad behavior.

Just force him to produce his birth certificate and impeachment may not be necessary.

Unfortunately, incompetence is not an impeachable offense.

you have got to be on crack. they couldn’t impeach the philandering dirtball clinton. the One could strangle his family and bury the bodies in the garden and they wouldn’t find a way to impeach him.

Impeachment? By who? This Congress is busy trying to out Obama Obama. It is more likely that the sun will go supernova tomorrow than this Congress will impeach Obama. A waste of article space.

Is it time to whisper the word 'impeachment' ? ...

Only if you've lost your voice from shouting it. :)

Before someone goes down this road, IMO they need to take a look at Bill Clinton’s approval ratings before - and after - Ken Starr and impeachment.

LOL. No Foreign policy experience. No Military experience. No business experience. No Governing experience. No impeachment needed here! (And if anyone thinks I really believe that I can sell you a bridge in Afghanistan.)

I agree. And there aren’t enough votes in the House or Senate anyway. It’s a waste of time and energy right now. We need to focus on electing conservatives.

Impeachment is a silly proposition unless there are at least 67 Senators willing to remove him. We got nothing when Bill Clinton was impeached.

Exactly.

And has anyone stopped to think about the next two in line?

Considering that a fair number of posters here seem to be equating impeachment with removal from office, my guess is no.

Impeaching 0bama without a guaranteed means of having the Senate remove him from office would be political stupidity for the GOP, just as impeaching Clinton was back in 1998.
