WASHINGTON A U.S. senator has weighed in on the continuing controversy over Barack Obama's eligibility for office by saying he has never seen proof the new president was actually born in Hawaii.
"Well, his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven't seen any birth certificate," Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., told constituents in Cullman County. "You have to be born in America to be president."

IF obammy was ever proven to be ineligible those of us who live in majority black cities would have lots to fear.
Heck, we already live in a state of fear because of the black on white crime.
It’s good to see a US Senator - finally - call into question of Obama’s mysterious birth.
Wonder when Drudge will put this up?
Oh I agree. I’m convinced that he’s illegitimate in
more ways than we can count and is a usurper.
THE PROOF THAT HE HAS SOMETHING TO HIDE...
IS THE FACT THAT HE IS HIDING SOMETHING!
This has got to be pressed to its conclusion. Time is running out. Shortly this Communist President will have the situation set to take direct dictatorial control; banks, wall street, housing, etc.
Drudge is probably waiting for Shelby to come out and say “Sorry” and retract his story before he post it...
Pinging you to post 66 for an example, publius 321.
If there is a topic that is of particular interest to you, you can begin to accumulate FR screen names, who have exhibited an interest in the same topic. This is a "ping list." Only include people who have asked to be added. Remove people who ask to be removed. You can keep your ping list in a folder on your computer desktop, or I've even seen ping lists at the bottom of FR homepages before, just copy and paste when a topic arises that is of potential interest.
The names should be entered into the "To:" field at the top of the reply screen, separated by semicolons.
That's all there is to it. Pretty simple.
Yes he would. His mother was a US citizen. There are questions about whether his citizenship, if he ever had it, was forfeited when he was adoped by his mother's second husband Mr. Sottero who was an Inonesian citizen.
Whoa, there. Not so fast.World Net Daily left out the critical part where Shelby, through his spokesman, denied that he has any doubts about Obama eligibility. Now why do you think World Net Daily would do that?
I emailed Shelby's spokesman, Jonathan Graffeo, to ask if Shelby believes there's substance to this rumor, for which no supporting evidence has ever emerge, and which has been debunked repeatedly and in detail.
UPDATE: Graffeo calls to say that the Cullman Times report is a "distortion" and that Shelby mentioned that he hadn't seen the birth certificate only as a "throwaway line" while listing the qualifications for office and explaining that the issue had been examined at length and put to rest.
"He doesn't have any doubt" about Obama's citizenship and eligibility, Graffeo said.
UPDATE: I haven't been able to reach the Cullman Times to check for tape or transcript, but in the meantime, a fuller statement from Graffeo:
The Cullman Times article contains an incomplete account, and therefore a distortion, of Sen. Shelby's comments regarding President Obama's citizenship. At the town hall meeting in Cullman, Sen. Shelby laid out the Constitutional qualifications for the Presidency and said that, while he hasn't personally seen the President's birth certificate, he is confident that the matter has been thoroughly examined.
Shelby dabbles in citizenship rumor(^), from Politico, Ben Smith's column(^)
So yeah. Not so much.
I live in a Metro area and have many black neigbors. I like them, they are good neigbors, but likely I will skeedaddle for a while until the heat dies. Maybe I will get lucky and they will burn my depreciated house down.
Any docs in the house? Every Republican politician should get a bottle of testosterone pills ASAP.
And there is the retraction, I knew it would come out!
Maybe you haven’t noticed, but Drudge’s page rarely if ever changes any headlines or does updates on the weekend.
If there is anything on it, it will be Monday at the soonest.
That face makes me want to puke up my dinner. You can be sure all the patriots in Arlington are rolling in their graves at this national disgrace mocking their sacrifice.
keith olberwomann will not be pleased.
There are many FReepers who keep “ping lists”. Such a list includes the Freeper names of those who might be interested in any information about a certain topic. The topics of interest can be wide and varied. There are “ping lists” for UFO’s, religion, global warming, earthquakes, etc. In this case, for Barack Obama’s birth certificate issues.
If an article is posted that the “pinger” thinks that those on his/her “ping list” might be interested, that article is called to their attention by including them on “post to” header.
You get on a ‘ping list’ by letting the ‘keeper’ know of your interest.
Is it a coincidence that Obama’s Grandmother Dunham passed away on election eve, November 3, 2008? It is related to the constitutional eligibility of Obama? Once he was confident in victory, he had to take care of loose ends. Dunham was the last living US witness to the events and location of BHOs naissance. Curious, they announce on election eve that she has succumbed from cancer, yet all the news previous to that was that she had a broken hip from a fall, went to the hospital and recovered. An election eve passing from a heretofore unannounced ailment is just too creepy. Hawaii officials said simultaneously there is a birth certificate in our vault but its sealed.
All loose ends are tied up. I pray that I just am a paranoid conspiracy wing nut.
...keep reading the thread, looks like a retraction has been made...
