WASHINGTON – A U.S. senator has weighed in on the continuing controversy over Barack Obama's eligibility for office by saying he has never seen proof the new president was actually born in Hawaii.

"Well, his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven't seen any birth certificate," Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., told constituents in Cullman County. "You have to be born in America to be president."

But everyone else born in the United States was a natural born citizen regardless of the citizenship of their parents.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR WORK in posting these documents. It nails all of those who think that a hollow piece of paper should be accepted only within the context of the Hawaiian adminsitrative process for delayed birth registrations. The context is that of a superior federal document, the US constitution.

Being dejure found " Born in Hawaii" does not satisfy the defacto requirements of Article II, section 1 of the US Constitution.That is the position that our Supreme Court, Dubyah,and various state Sec. States have taken. They will not look behind the process of Hawaiian birth registration. They conclude that dejure is defacto. THAT IS WRONG in terms of what Aricle II requires of a president.

Many Freepers are way too slow to grasp that fact.

Shelby is correct in stating that Obama has not released his birth certificate. Instead, Obama’s campaign released his certification of live birth — not his actual birth certificate. The certification acknowledges birth but does not include such details as place of birth.

Obama could put the ‘urban legend’ to rest by simply releasing his actual birth certificate, but he has declined to do so. Since his place of birth in Hawaii is identified on his still undisclosed birth certificate, he is one of the few U.S. presidents whose location of birth is still not known to the public.

TV ads, magazine ads, and billboards across the USA referencing the US Constitution and asking for his birth certificate might be helpful. Where’s the leadership of the GOP on this? No where to be found.

Not only was Arthur’s father born in Ireland, but Wilson’s mother was born in Carlisle, England. Wilson was born when she was 20yo.

The precedent to compromise was set years ago.

How ironic that Wilson was the first big govt expander too and income tax began on his watch.
How ironic that both WW and O were born British subjects, as far as we can tell.
And to think we thought we won that war against the British.....

By the time of Wilson’s birth, both of his parents were American citizens.

By the time of Arthur’s birth, only his mother was an American citizen, his father became a citizen many years later, and it is that fact which Arthur tried desperately to avoid coming to light for he knew it would mean he was not a natural born citizen by the meaning placed upon that terminology by the founders.
