Critical Threats: Blank When None
Afghanistan to Ask NATO for Bigger Army

Afghan officials will go to the NATO summit in Romania Thursday with a request: pay to increase our national Army by 40 percent. A bigger Army, Afghan officials argue, will allow the US and other coalition members to scale back in the coming years.

This appeal comes amid pleas from the US and Canada for other NATO members to commit more to the Afghanistan mission, which many analysts say has floundered over the past year for lack of resources and a coherent strategy. France is expected to contribute another 1,000 forces and Germany is likely to make a bigger commitment.

But American and Afghan government sources with knowledge of the expected Afghan proposal say that an increase from the current authorization of 86,000 Afghan Army soldiers to 120,000 is the only way to create an enduring defense against a resurgent Taliban and elusive Al Qaeda operatives. Congresswoman Myrick’s 10-point plan for anti-jihad resistance
Unveiled yesterday. Hats off to Sue Myrick (R-NC)!

From “N.C. congresswoman releases 10-point list to tackle radical Islam threats,” by Lisa Zagaroli for the McClatchy Newspapers (thanks to Twostellas):

Here is Myrick’s 10-point plan to tackle threats posed by radical elements of Islam:
1. Investigate all military chaplains endorsed by Abdurahman Alamoudi, who was imprisoned for funding a terrorist organization.

2. Investigate all prison chaplains endorsed by Alamoudi.

3. Investigate the selection process of Arabic translators working for the Pentagon and the FBI.

4. Examine the non-profit status of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

5. Make it an act of sedition or solicitation of treason to preach or publish materials that call for the deaths of Americans.

6. Audit sovereign wealth funds in the United States.

7. Cancel scholarship student visa program with Saudi Arabia until they reform their text books, which she claims preach hatred and violence against non-Muslims.

8. Restrict religious visas for imams who come from countries that don’t allow reciprocal visits by non-Muslim clergy.

9. Cancel contracts to train Saudi police and security in U.S. counterterrorism tactics.

10. Block the sale of sensitive military munitions to Saudi Arabia.

Never before that day had I thought about how a purse is a flashing beacon, screaming out...

"Here's all my stuff, every thing I value in the world!"

Like you fanfan, I never contemplated all that my purse contained prior to "that day." It wasn't about money (I never carry much of that), nor credit cards (I don't carry them unless I plan to use them, and that is not often). It was about irreplaceable photos of family members no longer alive, eyeglasses necessary for driving my car, keys to my home and car (which I now try to keep in my coat or sweater pocket), makeup (added up it's expensive to cover the wrinkles, smile lines and crows feet), and most of all, my personal identification (driver's license, etc.)

My thief lived in the same area and his brother and friends threatened one of my sons on the school bus. We sold our home and moved away. Doing the right thing (prosecuting the criminal) is not without its own challenges, but MUST be done.

Senior Iranian cleric calls on Islamic Republic to defend Muslims worldwide

A high-ranking Iranian cleric on Friday said the country should grow into a military superpower to defend all Muslims, following an army parade at a time of mounting tension with the West. "In a not so distant future, we should reach a point to have the most powerful military equipment in the world, so that no one even think about invading our borders," Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said in his Friday prayer sermon carried live on state radio. "And not only that of the Islamic Republic, but also the borders of Islam ... We must defend oppressed Muslims everywhere, so that the enemies do not dare to attack Afghanistan, Palestine and Iraq."

On Thursday's annual Army Day celebration in Tehran, dozens of fighter jets and other aircraft flew over the parade ground in a bid to show the power of the air force.

Also on display was Iran's Shahab-3 missile, whose range includes Israel and even the fringes of Europe.

The hard-line cleric also vowed to cheering worshippers, who chanted "Death to America" and "Death to Israel," that their slogans will materialize.

"I tell you that the death of the United States has come. You shouted Death to the Shah and he died," Jannati said, referring to the monarch overthrown by the 1979 Islamic Revolution and who died in exile. "You say 'Death to Israel,' and it is dying. You say 'Death to America,' and it will not take so long that its death prayer will be said."

Spikey haired techno fan Briston terror suspect

A terror suspect who dresses in Muslim robes was once a spiky-haired hardcore music fan with a pierced eyebrow. Andrew Ibrahim, 19, was arrested by police under the Terrorism Act on Thursday. Three controlled explosions have been carried out at his home in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol.

A source who once worked with him confirmed that our picture from the website MySpace is of Ibrahim when he had dyed red hair and facial piercings.

Non-Muslim father and son banned from swimming in pool

According to The Telegraph, staff at the centre turned David Toube and his five-year-old son Harry during a men-only session.

The council of the area has now admitted that workers at Clissold Leisure Centre in Hackney had made a mistake and have offered the family an apology.

Toube, 39, a lawyer, said they visited the baths at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

"I asked whether my son and I could go as we were both male. I was told that the session was for Muslims only and that we could not be admitted."

Toube then spoke to the duty manager, who confirmed he could not enter.

"I asked what would happen if I turned up and insisted I was Muslim.

"The manager suggested that they might ask the Muslims swimming if they minded my son and I swimming with them. If they didn't object, we might be allowed in."

Toube claimed he was told by a member of staff on a subsequent visit that it was a "requirement of the Muslim religion that Muslims could not swim with non-Muslims".

“Spikey haired techno fan Briston terror suspect”

I haven’t seen this one, Mama Dearest.
Needless to say, I’m not surprised because loser-types
make good jihad recruits.

We’ll see how the investigation unfolds.
