Kassam slams into Sderot home

Two Kassam rockets hit the western Negev Tuesday night, one hitting a house in Sderot and another an open field.

Several family members who were home at the time were treated for shock. The house sustained damage.
The second rocket exploded in an empty field in the western Negev, starting a fire. No casualties were reported.
Earlier Tuesday, a Kassam landed in an open area in southern Ashkelon. No casualties or damage were reported.

SoI member leads Soldiers to EFP cache

BAGHDAD A member of the Sons of Iraq led Multi-National Division Center Soldiers of 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment to a weapon cache containing two explosively-formed projectiles near Jisr Diyala, Iraq, April 21.
One of the EFPs had a makeshift stand for adjusting elevation. Both EFPs were turned over to an explosive ordnance disposal team for further exploitation.

Iraqi National Police apply pressure to enemy activity in southern Baghdad
Multi-National Division Baghdad PAO
BAGHDAD Iraqi National Police from the 3rd Battalion, 5th Brigade, 2nd NP Division, working in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad, seized a weapons cache and detained a suspected criminal during a security patrol April 20.
Conducting simultaneous raids at two different sites, 3rd Bn., 5th Bde., 2nd NP Div. officers captured two heavy machine guns with 1,800 rounds, a sniper rifle and a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, and detained a suspected criminal operating in the Risalah neighborhood of West Rashid.
Iraqi Security Forces such as the 3rd Bn., 5th Bde., 2nd NP conduct daily patrols and security operations for the Government of Iraq in support of the Baghdad Security Plan to maintain levels of security for the 1.2 million Iraqis living in southern Baghdad.
The Iraqi Army soldiers of 1st Battalion, 24th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division, also detained two suspected criminals during an early morning operation in the Saydiyah community of Rashid.
Thanks to the valiant efforts of the Iraqi Security Forces, the Raider Brigade continues to apply pressure to the enemy to provide a safe and secure environment for the Iraqi people, said Maj. Dave Olson, the spokesman for the 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., and MND-B. Soldiers of the 1st Raider Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division and Multi-National Division Baghdad, remain committed to supporting the ISF in their fight against terrorism and the criminals who are targeting innocent Iraqis.

One detained in connection with IED attack (Al Kut)

FORWARD OPERATING BASE DELTA, Iraq Coalition forces detained an Iraqi after a dual-initiated improvised explosive device attack on a Coalition force convoy April 19.
Quick reaction forces from the 1st Georgian Infantry Brigade responded to the attack.
The suspect was detained after he approached Coalition force Soldiers at the site.
He claimed to have been digging in a nearby field, but the Soldiers noted his hands were completely clean.
The suspect was taken into custody and detained for further questioning after testing positive for explosive residue.
No Coalition forces were injured in the attack.

MND-B Soldiers kill 15 criminals
BAGHDAD Multi-National Division Baghdad Soldiers engaged and killed 15 criminals in separate engagements in Baghdad April 22.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., Soldiers from 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, witnessed a criminal emplacing an improvised explosive device in northeast Baghdad. Soldiers shot and killed the criminal.
Unmanned aerial vehicle operators from 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, spotted two individuals with a mortar tube. They loaded the weapon into a vehicle and drove off in northeastern Baghdad at approximately 7:25 p.m. At approximately 8:50 p.m., the UAV fired one hellfire missile, killing two criminals and destroying one vehicle.
At approximately 7:45 p.m., Soldiers from 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, attached to 3rd BCT, 4th Inf. Div., engaged and killed one criminal after coming under a small-arms fire in northeastern Baghdad.
Soldiers from 3rd BCT, 4th Inf., Div., were attacked with an IED by criminals while they were conducting a mounted patrol in eastern Baghdad at approximately 9:45 p.m. Soldiers were then attacked with rocket-propelled grenades. Soldiers identified the criminals location and engaged them with small-arms fire, killing six criminals.
Soldiers from 3rd BCT, 4th Inf., Div., were attacked with RPGs at approximately 9:50 p.m. in eastern Baghdad. Soldiers identified two separate RPG teams and retuned fire, killing five criminals.
Along with our Iraqi Security Forces partners, we are targeting individual terrorists, criminal networks, and anyone involved in violent crimes against the Iraqi people, said Lt. Col. Steven Stover, spokesman, MND-B and 4th Inf. Div. We will continue to conduct precision operations based on substantial evidence of terrorist or criminal activity.
