Saudi Interior Minister: We Thwarted 180 Terror Operations
Saudi Interior Minister Prince Naif bin Abd Al-’Aziz said that the recent terror cell arrest sweep had thwarted 180 terror operations.
He added that if only 30% of these operations had been carried out, it would have been a catastrophe for the state and its capabilities.

Press Release A071203b
December 3, 2007
Coalition forces target an al-Qaeda facilitator; one detained (Baghdad)
BAGHDAD, Iraq Coalition forces detained one suspected terrorist during an operation to disrupt al-Qaeda in Iraq south of Tarmiyah today.
Coalition forces targeted an alleged associate of al-Qaeda in Iraq senior leaders involved in terrorist operations in the city. The targeted individual is believed to also be responsible for logistics for Baghdad-based terrorist leadership. When Coalition forces approached the target, they called for the individual to step out of the vehicle. The suspect complied and was subsequently detained.
As the ground force began to clear the target area, a separate vehicle approached their position. Coalition forces fired warning shots to get the vehicle to stop, but it continued to maneuver towards them at a high rate of speed. A second set of warning shots was fired, but the driver again did not comply, ignoring Coalition forces instructions. Perceiving hostile intent, Coalition forces engaged, wounding the four passengers inside the vehicle. The four individuals were evacuated to a military medical facility to receive treatment, but one died during transport.
While progress is being made, Iraq is still a violent place beset by many challenges, said Maj. Anton Alston, MNF-I spokesman. We regret when Iraqis are hurt or killed while Coalition forces work diligently to rid this country of the terrorist networks that threaten the security of Iraq and our forces. -30-

Press Release A071204a
December 4, 2007
UPDATE: Coalition forces positively identify terrorist killed in recent raid
BAGHDAD, Iraq An al Qaeda in Iraq terrorist killed during a recent Coalition forces operation has been positively identified as Abu Maysara.
Maysara, also known as Abu Bashair, was a Syrian who spoke an Iraqi dialect. He was a member of Abu Ayyub al-Masris inner circle and served as a senior advisor. Maysara was specifically responsible for providing extremist spiritual guidance and rebuttal on terrorist matters, perverting Islamic faith to allow terrorism, murder and torture. He was also known to provide logistical support to al-Qaeda operations and was a key leader in the al-Qaeda in Iraq media network.
Maysara was killed during an operation northeast of Samarra Nov. 17 (see MNF-I Press Release A071117a, Coalition forces target al-Qaeda networks; six terrorists killed, 10 detained, dated Nov. 17, 2007). During the operation, Coalition forces were targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq media networks, specifically, a building which was reportedly used as a propaganda house.
As the ground force approached the target building, they received heavy fire from inside. Responding in self-defense, Coalition forces engaged the armed men, killing six terrorists, including Maysara. The ground forces then secured the area, finding a weapons cache, improvised explosive device components and propaganda material.
In March, Maysara and a group of foreign terrorists escaped from the Badush Prison. It is believed he was one of the lead planners of the escape.
Maysara fought against the Government of Iraq in Fallujah in 2004 and was reportedly one of Abu Musab al-Zarqawis senior advisors. On Nov. 29, 2004, Maysara was captured by Coalition forces in Fallujah, using the name Muhammad Wasim Abdullah Halabi, also known as Abu Assim. He had in his possession a forged Ministry of the Interior identification card with the name Ahmad Ibrahim Karim, also known as Abu Ibrahim.
Abu Maysara was positively identified using DNA evidence.
This was a dangerous terrorist who is no longer part of the al-Qaeda in Iraq network, said Maj. Winfield Danielson, MNF-I spokesman. We will continue to relentlessly pursue the terrorist leaders who try to deny the Iraqi people a future of their choice.

Generally speaking, there are female suicide bombers who are dead and some who are in training in the Middle East.
The main-stream-media tends to ignore this — makes them uncomfortable to talk about training women and children to kill themselves and go to “paradise” (aka Hell).
Side Note: The global jihad (recruiters, trainers, financiers, supporters, propagandists, wannabes, etc.) is global primarily because of the internet and other modern communication tools.

Moderate Detainees Help to Identify Extremists in Iraq
By John J. Kruzel
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, Dec. 4, 2007 Moderate Muslims held in coalition detention centers in Iraq are turning in radical Muslim detainees on a daily basis, the deputy commanding general for Multinational Force Iraq detainee operations said yesterday.
Thousands of Muslim detainees identified to coalition forces as extremists have been siphoned from moderate populations and placed in separate confinement areas called modular detainee housing units, Marine Maj. Gen. Douglas Stone said during a conference call with Web journalists.
What we had were moderates who said, Listen, you know, we don’t want that (extremist) direction, he said. The moderates will turn in the extremists, (and) now that we can physically do that, almost every day groups of 50 to 100 to 150 to 200 (detainees) will self-identify the guys, will pull them out.
Describing what he called a moderate revolt, Stone described several instances where middle-of-the-road Muslims actively repudiated Islamic extremism inside the walls of coalition compounds.
The fundamental messaging from the extremists outside who have been reporting about detention and inside is We’ve lost control; we’re losing control, he said. I think they genuinely believed that they had ideological recruiting and training control over the compounds inside the theater internment facilities, and they have genuinely lost it.
Helping to drive the shift away from extremist Islam are Iraqs provincial and tribal leaders, who Stone said set the tone and tenor that radical Muslims should no longer be tolerated in their respective of Iraqi societies.
Stone expressed guarded optimism about recent detainee developments at Multinational Force Iraq, which currently holds 25,188 detainees, including 20,581 Sunnis and 4,562 Shiites.
Since July, coalition forces have released 3,305 detainees. None of those released have been re-detained, and only three have been recaptured for questioning unrelated to insurgent activity, Stone said.
The command is encouraged by the low recapture and recidivist rate, he said. That’s a combination of the situation on the ground and the great work of the coalition forces to provide the degree of security.
Furthermore, compared to five weeks ago when troops averaged 61 detentions per day, today the average has dropped to around 40. Detainee releases have remained very constant for the better part of the last two months at 49 a day, Stone added.
The steady flow of releases is in part the result of a new curriculum offered to detainees at coalition compounds, Stone said. The courses include offerings that reinforce basic Islamic tenets such as the sanctity of life and property, loving humanity and avoiding hatred, earning a living, and practicing respect and tolerance for humanity.
It’s embedded in its religion, so it needs to put things in the context of the Muslim faith, and that’s how they do it, he said. Each one includes in there a Quranic sort of reference to give these guys some reason why it has a lynchpin.
More than 7,000 detainees are enrolled in basic education courses. Roughly 1,000 others are participating in mixed Sunni and Shiite religious discussions led by imams hired by coalition forces, a course that will become mandatory for detainees who have been deemed ready for release.
They are genuinely engaged in a conversation — a Socratic conversation — without our presence in there, about the Quran, Stone said of the religious course. They come out understanding the difference between what the extremists have said, or what the extremists have made them memorize, vs. what’s actually in the Quran.

Troops Detain Suspected Taliban Extremists, Find Weapons
American Forces Press Service
BAGRAM AIR BASE, Afghanistan, Dec. 4, 2007 Coalition forces detained four suspected militants during an operation yesterday in Afghanistans Oruzgan province to disrupt extremist networks.
Forces conducted a search of compounds in the Deh Rawod district targeting Taliban insurgents reported to be conducting insurgent operations. Intelligence reports also indicated Taliban insurgents were actively engaged in facilitating foreign-fighter networks.
During the operations, coalition forces detained four individuals suspected of having links to Taliban extremists. The detained individuals will be questioned as to their involvement in insurgent operations as well as other extremist activities.
Coalition forces also recovered several weapons and explosives which were destroyed in place to prevent their use by extremist forces.
Coalition forces aggressive pursuit of extremist networks will continue to erode the Talibans ability to conduct militant operations against Afghan and coalition Forces, said Army Maj. Chris Belcher, a Combined Joint Task Force 82 spokesman.

US jet intercepts ballistic missile for first time
AFP via Breitbart ^ | Dec 4 07:35 PM US/Eastern | AFP

A US F-16 fighter used an air-to-air missile to destroy a sounding rocket in its boost phase for the first time this week in a test of a new missile defense concept, US spokesmen said Tuesday.
The system — named the Net-Centric Airborne Defense Element (NCDE) — breaks new ground in that it would arm fighter aircraft or drones with missiles fast enough to intercept a ballistic missile as it lifts into space.
The aircraft would have to get to within a 100 miles of the launch site to catch the ascending missile in the first two to three minutes after launch.
