Washington Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerrys comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:
If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. Im sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.
Im not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Foxs Parkinsons disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.
The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.
Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because theyre afraid to debate real men. And this time it wont work because were going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.
I just read the thread from Tony Snow's White House briefing...and Kerry BLACKBERRIED a message to the ABC News reporter while the briefing was going on.....and said that Tony was NOT giving the right context to his remarks...
SOOOOOOOO...Kerry has a direct link to the WH ABC reporter chick to push HIS agenda on the "White House (BUSH)" Press Briefing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT, IMHO...is totally undermining of not only the POTUS...but the CIC!!!!
Can anyone ever, ever think of ABC News NOT being in the pockets of the dems after this??
If delusion was an art form, they'd be Picasso and Michelangelo combined!
Lol. It doesn't spin into a positive there does it.
Amen. Burn the phone lines. Call your local media. Call every RAT office-holder, local, state and national -- and raise Hell.
As in : "if you make the most of it, if you study hard and do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you can do well. If you don't, you'll be unqualified to do anything except be elected President of the United States"?
As in..."If you screw up and don't study you'll make a stupid decision to invade Iraq and get stuck there"? This statement perhaps more clear that he is referring to the President?
I suppose he might be trying to say that but consider this...he issues an apology and that apology, instead of clearly re-stating what he was allegedly TRYING to say for the clarification of us idiots us misunderstood him, instead...he issues a haughty press relief glossing over his most glaring of errors....which at the LEAST his statement was...instead of humbly explaining himself and apologizing to our troops. Yeah I know it's a run-on sentence. Forgive me, I type with such rage in my heart that by my above argument, even if it was a stupid slip of phrasing, his response to the criticism is even WORSE.
Yeah, I am going to CALL my congress critters if I can find the Delaware info. I am going to BLISTER some ears.
LOL!
That is one of the finest posts I've seen on this forum. God bless you, Fishtalk, God bless our troops, and God bless the USofA.
I wrote to Senator Kerry...
"Senator Kerry,
Your comments made to young people getting an education or ending up in Iraq is disgraceful. Are you implying that our men and women in the armed forces are somehow less educated or intelligent than the rest of us? It sure reads that way to me. Thank God for them! They are doing a hell of a lot more for this country than you have done during your entire career! You should be ashamed of yourself. Nothing but a full apology should be accepted by our soldiers. However, even that's not going to make a difference with me. Rest assured if you run for President again, you WON'T get my vote!"
I'll help you. Start with Biden's office at 202-224-5042 and Carper at 202-224-2441. Calling the DC offices will have greater impact.
Nice work, very nice.
He can't be thinking of George W. Bush with that statement because G.W. has a MBA degree from Harvard.
Instead of anger, I'm feeling glee that this a$$hat gave the GOP a gift a week out from the elections.
Don't worry, be happy!
There, now the MSM can report that Democrats are under increasing pressure to disavow Kerry's vicious mocking of our troops.
In this one sentence you have absolutely and perfectly summarized the essence and total substance of this pathetic man.
WTF is a "Katrina foreign policy"?
Apart from being a not-so-clever way to work the word "Katrina" into his rebuttal I mean.
"...when I first heard this remark, I thought that he was referring to Bush."
I'm no fan of Kerry either, but he was in fact referring to Bush, not our soldiers.
Kerry's words are being deliberately distorted, and I'm afraid it will backfire on us.
It's like this: When liberals trot out mangled Bush quotes -- like the one where he said "ob/gyns are unable to practice their love with women" -- they do it to mock Bush. They don't seriously imply that Bush MEANT it. If they tried to imply that Bush really meant it as he said it they would be laughed at. Everyone knows he didn't mean it like that.
If we try to turn Kerry's remarks into something he didn't actually mean it's going to make us look bad.
Face it, Kerry says enough stupid stuff. We don't need to deliberately misinterpret something something he says to smear him. It's dishonest, and we don't have to be dishonest to score points against someone like Kerry.
(My tagline) bump!
