Washington Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerrys comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:
If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. Im sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.
Im not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Foxs Parkinsons disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.
The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.
Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because theyre afraid to debate real men. And this time it wont work because were going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.
Doesn't take everybody - just a majority (less any fraud). Kennedy and Kerry get that handily every election in the PRM.
The Rats aren't ready for anything but being against America for their own gain. The US comes second to these people. America had better wake up and real fast. We will bew a third world country in no time if they have their way.
Sounds like he is hanging out at DU daily. There is true hate in that response.....bitter old man upset that he got caught. Staff probably had to delete all the "F" words before publication.
So, is this the Democrat's "October Surprise"?
Dear "Hanoi" John:
Last time I heard, John O'Neil has offered to debate you...
Why not? He criticized the 500,000 serving in Vietnam. This is just more of the same. In fact, his Vietnam statement is EVIDENCE that he can be critical.
It's easy for them to live with themselves. They are delusional, and when you add in the fact that someone like Kerry has an over-inflated ego, it's TNT. People who vote for scum like Kerry are just as delusional as those they are supporting.
You know, this is almost as good as an Osama video.
Uhhhh, no. That's a real stretch there. Because if he meant that, he is implying that if you don't study hard, you can still become President. That does not make sense at all.
It's a lame attempt at damage control.
Well, a military wife just saw it! Bless you.
That spin makes no sense. It's common knowledge that Bush smoked Kerry in terms of college grades, etc. Kerry meant it to mock the troops.
Crystal ball sees one coming.
You mean he meant to say that if you don't work hard and do your homework in college, you'll be too dumb to graduate and end up being President of the US instead?
No, I think this is just John Kerry's vanity overloading his ass.
Follow the convoluted logic. If you don't study hard, do your homework, and make an effort to be smart, rather than DOING WELL, you will instead end up as President of the United States.
As President, you will get "Stuck" in Iraq, figuratively speaking, by sending the really smart kids who join the military to fight in the war.
I didn't say it would make any sense, but apparently Kerry thinks that winning the presidency is not something that is "doing well".
I guess that's actually BETTER for him than being caught saying only stupid people join the military.
Didn't Kerry score lower than Bush on the same US military aptitude/IQ test? When asked about it in the 2004 election, Kerry replied that he got really drunk the night before the exam?
Honestly, this is comically absurd. I had to go back and re-read the statement. Then, I hit the link thinking this HAD to be a joke. This man actually thinks he should be president?
