It would be crude and improper for a reporter to ask the First Lady in public what she thinks of this writing. If they're interested in her opinion they can call her office and ask for a reaction. You need to work on your writing, improve your punctuation, and stop using so many capital letters. What does this statement mean anyway: "AGAIN PANDORAS BOX HERE Doesnt mean she is a perv."

Dodd was trying to brush it off, insisting that it had no relevance to the election.

Character is always an issue in any election. This isn't going to help the debate much since:

1. The lamestream media in Virginia will only report this in the context of "Senator Allen's horrible mudslinging accusations." So most people won't know about this, except to the extent that this is publicized by talk radio and alternative media like FR.
and,
2. With respect, how does this answer questions such what would you do regarding foreign policy? What would you do about taxes? It doesn't. There's nothing to debate other than Mr. Webb published some of what I and many others on this website would consider filth.
3. Debate implies that there's someone else to debate. If Mr. Webb is smart, he'll follow the lead of the lamestream media in Virginia and simply ignore this.

Dodd's reaction just shows that he's a cheap political hack who will do almost anything to help other Dems. Webb's writings are entirely relevant to the election because they are a window into his character and his state of mind.

Interesting reading some comments with regard to Webb.

Defending this in any circumstance is truly evil.

What kind of person would thnk like this or defend publishing such thoughts.

We live in frightening times and need to be more vigilant than ever with our children.

Amen to that, broda!

Writers have leeway to write about human character.

Sure they do. Until they voluntarily inject themselves into the public eye and voluntarily agree to hold themselves to a higher standard by wishing to hold elective office. Then they have to be aware that every word spoken in the past (to anyone) and every writen word (in any forum, even a personal diary) is open to full examination. How better to cut to the heart of a person's inner philosophy?

"Just FYI Webb campaign is now claiming this was an historical event witnessed by 300 people."

No surprises. In another week, Mr. Webb will be claiming to have healed the sick. Our lapdog Virginia newspapers will say that isn't true: Mr. Webb healed the sick and cured the lame as well! (/s)

Mud, Mud, Mud. Get's tiresome.

Agreed. But it will continue to be slung in ever greater quantities. Why? Simple. It works.

"Wonder how the MSM would treat this if a Republican wrote this stuff?"

It would be a media orgy-fest.

If it were a Republican, it would be around-the-clock coverage on all three primetime networks not to mention the cable outlets. And, they would be demanding multiple resignations.

Well said. Like I wrote earlier, we don't want to ban Steven King's books but we don't want Steven King in the US Senate either.

The Donks started the mudslinging in this campaing by accusing Allen of racism and some incidents that many people think never actually happened. If we don't respond strongly to democRAT mudslinging then they will do even more of it in 2008. You can count on that--if they don't get hammered in response to very questionable accusations then we'll see even more BS from them in 2008.

You're right. That is what would happen...

Webb is going to tank with female voters, particularly those who are not broken glass Democrats.

You forgot the voters who are taking dirt naps.

I think this is going to get a lot of coverage on Talk Radio today and next week. I'm going to listen to Limbaugh and Hannity and see what they say about this. This story will certainly get to all the voters in Virgina and most voters nationwide, just from the internet and from people talking about it and listening to talk radio.

Oh, puh-leeze. This is equivalent to showing clips of Ronald Reagan playing an organized crime boss in The Killers and suggesting that this indicates that Reagan was a crook.
