It's time for a full scale congressional investigation

Jobs are being eliminated by special interest activist organizations

Now that air quality test results by the likes of the American Cancer Society are proving that the secondhand smoke kills argument is completely fabricated.

http://cleanairquality.blogspot.com/2004/04/american-cancer-society-test-results.html

It's time for lawmakers to investigate why this fallacy has permeated the local government debate.....and specifically who is funding and spreading that false information.

http://www.rwjf.org/about/founder.jhtml

The "who" is in large part the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. And since RWJF is an affiliate of the Johnson & Johnson Company (the manufacturer of competing nicotine product interests Nicoderm & Nicoderm CQ), it stands to reason that the role of RWJF's funding of smoking ban efforts is for their own financial benefit.....not for health concerns as some would have you believe.

http://www.alza.com/alza/tl_1991
http://www.alza.com/alza/tl_2001

At the very least, because of the appearance of impropriety, and the fact that tens of thousands of people in the hospitality and ventilation industries are being negatively impacted by these special interest funded smoking bans;

http://www.smokersclubinc.com/banloss3.htm

congressional hearings at the state and federal levels should convene immediately before any future consideration of smoking bans at any level (city, county, state, or federal).

And should it be discovered that there is indeed a conflict of interest, the culpable party (RWJF) should be forced to compensate those of us negatively affected by the false data which resulted in arbitrary and unnecessary smoking ban laws.

Clearing the Air encourages all hospitality associations, ventilation / filtration manufacturers, gaming associations, and even the tobacco manufacturers nationwide to demand such an investigation......one powerful voice in unison, cannot go ignored.

The fool's gold that heals

Drug companies are the most profitable businesses in the world - ever seeking new diseases for which they can provide new 'miracle' medicines. But the fact is, Jacky Law reports, a simple sugar pill can often be just as effective

It won't matter. They have a group of people they're allowed to hate, and the facts will not get in their way.

American Cancer Society catches the Surgeon General in an outright lie...

July 1, 2006

The Surgeon General showed up very regal looking to provide a press release rehashing the tired old argument that secondhand smoke is deadly and must be banned. And with his next statement:

Separate "no smoking" sections DO NOT protect you from secondhand smoke. Neither does filtering the air or opening a window.

It seemed a feable attempt to pre-empt any action short of a total smoking ban.....as if to confirm that pro-smoking ban activists' credibility in the public is failing miserably.

Well I am sorry to report that the American Cancer Society conducted air quality testing at several smoking venues which prove the Sugeon General flat out wrong.

Take a look at the above table, do you see the 20 reading? It represents a restaurant with an enclosed (separate) smoking area. And the 20 is actually 20 nanograms, a nanogram is 10 (-9).

So......let me put a number to that nanogram for you: 0.000000020 of a gram/cubic meter was the secondhand smoke concentration for the restaurant with the enclosed smoking area. Which is 25,000 times SAFER than OSHA regulations for the secondhand smoke measured airborne component. Thus the American Cancer Society destroys the Surgeon General's and RWJF (Nicoderm) funded James Repace argument that seperation and ventilation don't work.

The Surgeon General can stomp his feet, and scream at the top of his lungs...like a little Napoleon "....because I said so....." all he wants. But it doesn't change the facts........and the facts show he is telling a bold faced lie to the American public.

A class action lawsuit that bankrupts all these nanny organizations would be sweet, wouldn't it? It is easy to show the economic damage they cause.

I sold a bar last year and moved further out into Harris County, purchasing a piece of land with a building.
In remodeling the building, I added a 1,000 sq ft covered patio....in anticipation that one of these days, Houston's smoking ordinance would catch up with the county (where there is no such thing as of now). Recently, the Houston Resturant Association began lobbying the Houston City Council to expand the smoking ban and eliminate smoking
in resturant bars. Was it for health reasons? No, it was because resturants that don't have bars are losing business
to resturants that DO have bars (where smoking is permitted). They are also losing business to resturants in the county. Why drive 20 miles for a meal in a place you can't smoke? Mark my words, Harris County
unincorporated areas will be next!

Too bad nobody in government gives a damn. They have given the sheeple a class of people to chit on while drawing attention away from their own ineptitude.

I don't care if there is scientific proof that tobacco smoke is as healthy as mother's milk. It irritates my lungs, nose and eyes. It is very unpleasant and disgusting for most non-smokers. For a smoker to inflict it on us unwillingly is unspeakably rude, and really little short of assault and battery. I will always be in favor of smoking bans in most public places. You people are fighting a losing battle.

It would be wonderful!

The very sad thing of this is:  when Big Tobacco fell to their knees in front of the Attorney Generals, it wasn't Big Tobacco paying the billions to the state.  It's the SMOKERS!  Each time smokers buy and pay taxes on their states cigarettes, that tax money goes to the highly paid professional anti-smokers in that state.

The smokers are paying for all of this control, bans, and restrictions that is put upon them.  Sad?  You sure know it!

And Big Pharm knows that the more guilt they put on smokers and the more smokers try to quit something they have enjoyed for years, then Big Pharm will reap the benefits of the money smokers spend buying that gum and that patch.

There is a wicked agenda behind everything today.  I take nothing at face value!

You may be right, but I'll bet there are literally hundreds of studies on second hand smoke if you knew where to look for them. It's always a possibility that J&J was trying to enhance business. It's also a possibility that they simply ran a flawed study. Take a look at the left. Studies or polls or group opinions on stuff are hard to get right. They screw their polls up every two years, which are supposedly run using the lastest methods.

Sorry about your loss.  We have tried and tried to tell everyone and warn everyone.  I guess people just think "it can't happen to them."  Then when it DOES happen to them, it's too late to turn back.

...speaking of drug companies, how many people are killed by legal drugs each year?

Doctors Are The Third Leading Cause of Death in the US, Causing 250,000 Deaths Every Year

This article in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) is the best article I have ever seen written in the published literature documenting the tragedy of the traditional medical paradigm.

- Big Pharm may sing the blues about research costs, but the taxpayers via our government fund a good big of the basic research. The fact is that the pharmaceutical industry is the most profitable (and most powerful) industry in the world. The medicalizing of every conceivable part of the human condition is only increasing the profit and power of the pharmaceuticals, since for every new "disease," there is--natch--a new drug.

Further, the pharms virtually own the AMA, and they are essentially partners with the U.S. government (and public partners with the WHO). Something like half the panelists at the FDA who approve new drugs are financially connected with Big Pharm. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (biggest single shareholder in Johnson & Johnson) is a partner with the CDC in the war against smoking, and many of the biggest pharms DONATE MONEY directly to the CDC via the Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control. In fact, pharms constitute the majority of these donors. Don't you think these donations would influence the public health policy of the CDC? Of course they do!

Those who think the tobacco industry is the evil empire haven't taken a good look at Big Drugs.

It would actually be much easier on you and everyody else if you just wouldn't go where people are smoking.

Or is that just too much to ask?
