Bush Outlines Border Security Plan
Monday, November 28, 2005
CRAWFORD, Texas Trying to unify a fractious Republican Party headed to midterm elections with wide differences over how to best deal with illegal immigration, President Bush was in Tucson, Ariz., on Monday to say America shouldn't have to choose between a welcoming society and a lawful one.
"Securing our border is essential to securing our homeland. And I want to thank all of those who are working around the clock to defend our border, to enforce our laws and to uphold the values of the United States of America. America is grateful to those on the front lines enforcing the border," Bush said at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in the first of two speeches on border control.

I like what the President said, but there are glaring dishonesty in what he said as well.
Increasing the border security to 12,500 guards isnt going to secure the border. Even with the addition of new technology, most analysts estimate that we need anywhere from 40,000 to 60,000 border guards.
The guest workers program is a complete scam.
It is obvious that most Americans overwhelming support securing the border, and it is obvious that most Americans want to stop this invasion of illegal aliens from south of the border. And it is obvious that many Americans are becoming vocal about this, and many of these Americans make up what some call the Bush base what the old media calls conservatives and what is obvious is that with the Presidents poll numbers in the toilet, the President is trying to secure his base by talking about securing the border.
Leading the way? McCain . . . and Specter?
I dont trust anything McCain has to offer, and I out and out spit out as vile anything, ANYTHING, that Arlen Specter has to offer or say.
I think I heard the President mention both of their names. Leading the way? Well, Im not following them down that road, no way.
I like what he said about catch and release, but can I believe him? The idea of the guest workers program is to give amnesty to those illegal aliens who are here, give them a guest workers card, invite millions more to come in and get the identity card, and after five years or so under the law they have to go back. I like the idea that they have to go back, but can I believe the President when he says they will go back? Because, I think they might not go back. The number two radio program in Los Angeles is a Spanish language program. I think with this guest workers program, it will be number one. I dont think anyone, in fact my gut feeling is that not even one, not one, will go back after five years. During that period they will have had six children, besides.
What we are observing today, is history in motion. Conservatives are not a small minority. They make up a substantial constituency. This constituency is, and can be, more powerful than the leftist Hispanics who want the invasion to continue and want to form a new Mexico and an exclusive Mexican identity here in America. And what we are observing today, is the power of conservatives and Americans, and that is why the President is bending on this issue. Because, the big lie of the old media is that the Presidents negative polling is all about Iraq. The truth is, a significant percentage of this negative polling is coming from Americans who are sick of the Bush Administration policies regarding illegal immigration, liberal spending, kowtowing to Kennedy and McCain and others, and yes, not being tough enough in Iraq. In other words, just being too liberal.
This speech today had some answers. It also had propositions which will make the answers to this question more difficult. And, I didnt here Tancredos name mentioned. Which is quite amazing, but not surprising.
Here is what can be done. We immediately enforce all the good ideas that the President mention in his speech today. And we reject the guest workers program right down the toilet. The President said we cannot have a solution without a guest workers program. That is completely false.
Should I say, it is a lie?
Bush outlines CONTINUED LACK of border security plan.
Good point. The guest worker program is a sham.
What is also "obvious" is that Americans don't want to pay more for food and other items - you failed to address any of Bush's points about keeping the economy going - I hope you don't think sealing the borders would do that.
>>>Should I say, it is a lie?<<<
Yes. On the so-called "Guest Worker Program" President Bush is lying his ass off. The rest of his so-called "Crack Down on Illegal Immigration" is also a lie. He has now proven he no concern whatsoever for our national sovereignty or our culture. I knew it was a mistake to vote for him, but like a fool I did it anyway. God forgive me.
"Anchor babies" as in UNITED STATES CITIZENS per the 14th Amendment to the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION?
its all bs
Why can't we build a 10 meter high concrete wall from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico and be done with the problem? The engineering is not that big a deal, and the cost could be pretty reasonable with the proper design.
So why not do it?
The crash continues.
What, you mean compared to John "Open Borders" Kerry? Do you honestly believe we had any choice either way?
Start by getting finger prints and pictures of all captured.
Go to all the Home Depots and anywhere you find men loitering around that isn't a sports venue and you have a probable pack of illegals.
Go after tips.
Take away the right to any free education, medical assistance or a birth certificate for illegals who want to drop anchor babies here.
hello open border apologist!
Thanks for bringing up the "$6 head of lettuce" lie!
Because a simple concrete wall doesn't do the job. The Israelis have the right idea, the right design, and the right implementation.
