Looks like the D's weren't "divining" the intent of the voter, but "deciding" the intent of the voter......

Exactly. Rather than deciding if intent was clear, they were trying to "solve" who the voter voted for.

If your reporter friend's name is Robert Mak, he's the one who reported that it was counted as a Gregoire vote.

I don't mind that Dino won't have either chamber. At least his veto would be there.

I'm no worshipper of the baby-killing courts, but I agree with Lazamataz regarding voter fraud.

We've know about stuff like this for years.

Those DUmmies think they're original.

Free Republic was there 1st:

That's right - we knew about this stuff WAY back.

I agree with you. We cannot allow ourselves to become corrupt. That's the very thing we're fighting against. We simply need to put a better system in place to both deter and record fraud. It would discourage fraud and make it easier to identify and prosecute.

I have several Ideas on the issue posted throughout this thread if you care to check them out.

Either way, Merry Christmas

If we're going to require exact correctness marking the ballot, then we are going to have to adjust the ballot for the eyes of octagenarians.

This is not even close to being correct.

They should have ballots for people who have eyesight problems - I have no trouble with that - but the idea of partisans determining voter intent is not a solution.

Former Kitsap County Treasurer Sharon Shrader claims some of the credit, along with other members of the Democratic Women's Club of Kitsap County, for Logan's political baptism. She met him when he was 12. The club was active in the church he and his parents attended, and Logan began attending club meetings.

"He kind of grew up around us old ladies in the Democratic Women's Club," Shrader said. "We've always been interested in his career." ~~snip~~In 1986, after graduating from Bremerton High School, he took a temporary position during election season with the Kitsap County Auditor's Office. That experience worked into a permanent job in the licensing division and later an opportunity in the elections division, where he worked as assistant supervisor of elections through 1990.

That year, he took an internship that led to paid employment as political coordinator with the Washington State Labor Council. There he worked on legislative and congressional campaigns and learned the ropes of lobbying.

Logan's RAT background

"but the idea of partisans determining voter intent is not a solution."

Everyone is partisan and machines break and can be tampered with. We just have to trust but verify.

I don't want to make light of a serious situation nor do I want to be alarmist or conspiratorial. But in the top right corner of the computer enhanced version, I can quite clearly see the face of Bigfoot.

Submitted for your consideration:

We also need clear-cut standards.

Even if Gregoire ultimately wins, she will live under a cloud of illegitimacy for the next 4 years.

No, same was said about Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-LA, and Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-CA, both elected in 1996 under questionable circumstances. They are still in office.
Gregoire can easily unite the liberal majority in WA State behind her. She can even belittle her narrow "victory" on grounds like that of "Landslide Lyndon" in the 1948 TX Democrat primary.

We are not to return evil for evil, my friend. We cannot stoop to the cRats level. But I certainly hope that the Republican party in this state appeals the courts decision and that we can be smart enough to ensure a revote for the office of govenor, if not a statewide recount, including the "disqualified" ballots of our troops abroad.

There was a revote for the U.S. Senate seat from NH in 1975, after a 1974 general election ended in a 2-vote victory for the Republican candidate. The Democrat easily won the revote.
