The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all conservatives who share our jubilation with the re-election of President Bush and Vice President Cheney to join us in Washington, D.C. on Inauguration Day, Thursday, January 20, 2005, for a very special demonstration.
In order to help prevent a repeat of the leftist-led assaults and disruptions during the 2001 Inaugural parade, the D.C. Chapter applied for a demonstration permit with the U.S. Park Police last January for three key locations along the Inaugural Parade route on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Those locations are: The Navy Memorial, between 7th and 9th Streets, NW, where in 2001 leftists climbed the masts and tore down flags and pennants, replacing them with "anarchist" flags; Freedom Plaza, between 13th and 14th Streets, NW; and Pershing Park, between 14th and 15th Streets, NW.
Our goal is to give pro-Bush-Cheney people the opportunity to enjoy the parade and share fellowship with like-minded conservatives while holding demonstrations in support of the President and his conservative policies including pro-life, pro-2A, pro-military and pro-war-on-terrorists.
The D.C. Chapter is reaching out to other conservative groups, inviting them to join us in common cause that day. We recognize that not everyone agrees with every one of the President's policies, however we are asking those who stand with us to set aside those criticisms just for one day. There will be plenty of criticism from the left that day. Our job is to represent the 61 million Americans who voted in record numbers to give the President a mandate for his agenda.
Our plan is to have a 'salute to veterans' gathering at the Navy Memorial. Issue-oriented demonstrators will gather at Freedom Plaza. Pershing Park will be used as the D.C. Chapter's base of operations.
There will be plenty of law enforcement officers all along the parade route. Security checkpoints will be established that all who wish to stand along the parade will have to pass through. The leftists will do their best to ruin the President's day, but by conservatives coming out in large numbers at our permitted demonstration areas we can deny them ground from which to operate from. Several leftist groups have their own permit applications in so they should not be able to encroach on ours.
The D.C. Chapter's pro-Bush demonstration zones are set to be islands of peace from the angry leftists. We will not condone any provocations or violence.
Please bring American and service flags, along with signs supporting President Bush and our conservative agenda. The parade will run from about 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. However, people will be gathering along the parade route from early morning on through the afternoon.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for demonstrating will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
All persons and groups participating in our permitted demonstration areas must agree to abide by our rules for civilized demonstrations.
Unless the taxpayers are paying for AirFrance tickets or private therapy, we may still see quite a few whiners left in the District.
See you in January!
Thought you might be interested in this!
Sadly, I can't be there.
Any chance of someone getting hold of an Australian flag and waving it on my behalf?
Don't know if you will be making a moab, but I think if you really want to tick off the leftists, just put God in it. Like God blesses America and George Bush or something else.
I think this is a fitting occasion for my first demonstration!
I've got the date marked on my calendar. Hope to see you there!
What's the problem? It's just a short drive. :-p
Should read "Van DORN" metro stop. :-)
bttt
Cool.
I'll be there.
Brrrrr! The mom in me said, "Button that jacket, Mud!"
Thanks for the hard work and advising the locations...will be there and excited to meet some Freepers.
I stayed at the Harrington when I came to DC on a spring break trip in the late 70's. It was crappy then, I kind of thought it would have been torn down by now.
I hope to be coming to DC non Inaugeration Day and join you all
I'm pingign a few friends who'll be in DC then too!
Phancy, Guffy, Lori, Amy and Bob
Thought y'all would be interested in this.
You've been pinged! :o)
Let me know where toline up!
I'll be laughing, smiling, gloating, sipping champagne, and staying warm and cozy in the comforts of my living room, while watching the festivities on television.
Let 'em demonstrate. When they do, we get more "red" voters!!
(to be exact, 11,500,000 more than in 2000)
God Bless You and what a GREAT Idea~!
When we had the FreeRepublic Howl for Justice in DC in Oct 1998 many of us stayed in a hotel across the street from the Watergate Hotel. That was a riot.
