Old Crimson Interview Reveals A More Radical John Kerry The Crimson reported Kerry called for U.N. control of troops in 1970.
Ten months after returning home from Vietnam, a young John Kerry strolled into the offices of The Harvard Crimson on Feb. 13, 1970 as an obscure underdog in the Democratic Congressional primary. The decorated veteran, honorably discharged after a tour of duty in the Mekong Delta, spoke in fierce terms during his daylong interview with The Crimsons Samuel Z. Goldhaber 72.
But almost 34 years later, Kerrys remarks on American military and intelligence operations vastly diverge from opinions expressed by the present-day Sen. John F. Kerry, D.-Mass., the leading candidate in the Democratic primary for president.
Im an internationalist, Kerry told The Crimson in 1970. Id like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations.
Kerry said he wanted to almost eliminate CIA activity. The CIA is fighting its own war in Laos and nobody seems to care.

Nice. Hey, the enemy within has learned how to abuse the virtues of our Republic's political machine...they've mastered it and MSM is TOTALLY in bed with International Communism (aka Socialism).

If Kerry felt that way in 1970-he feels that way today-the only thing that ever changes about socialist, liberal hippies, is their eternally evoluting bait and the manner in which they dangle it before the suckers they are stalking.

When I was young, it was "expected" to be a flaming liberal.
I think a lot of younger people don't understand how the entire country, from around the Forties through the Eighties identified itself as 'liberal'. In much the same way as the average person now identifies themselves as 'conservative'. Of course, the labels become meaningless when applied to such large groups of people.
That is the era when most of today's news anchors and editors came of age. So for people like Rather/Jennings/Brokaw, they still consider themselves liberal even if they won't use the word. And they think there is something wrong anyone who isn't.

*Yawn*
This is 30-35 years old. Back then, PJ O'Rourke was railing against the "fascists" running this country and a drunken GW Bush was challenging his father to a fistfight in the family living room.
Did Kerry introduce Senate resoulutions to place US forces under UN control? Did he move to gut the CIA while in office?
In other words, BFD what he said while at school. There's so much else to question Kerry on without wasting time on this stuff.

BFD to your YAWN and I'll raise you post 25.
He tried to cut the Intell budget drastically and even his fellow libs wound not go along. But you know that.
Kerry was doing double naught spy stuff and believing he was in Cambodia.
And took part in discussions to assassinate seven US Senators. So lets see which is worse a drunk GWB or a person that is part of a "Terrorist Group?" I'll report, you decide, but you probley are busy drinking the kool-aid.

Another flipflop from the flipflopper:
Carl Cameron is reporting that just 3 weeks ago in another speech, Kerry was advocating significantly reducing troops overseas, 'Korean peninsula, perhaps', Europe, etc.
Today at the VFW, Kerry decrys GWB's plan to reduce troops as a bad idea.

in 1970, lot's of people were internationalists. this whole "what happened 30 years ago" strategy still has a high potential to blow up in our faces. the guy's senate record is an incredibly fertile hunting ground; I wish we would stick to that.

Ignore Kerry's obvious lies from his war hero days?
Kerry contradicts himself on every claim he makes.
What is this "we" should ignore stuff?
You can comment about Kerry's US bleak AWOL Senate years.

I wonder what Kerry thinks about our troops being directed by the new Iraq government Now that is a pretty tough charge. Do you have any documentation of that?

It`s true. The guy is totally anti-military. Every vote for military spending in his entire career in the Senate he has voted no to, the latest being Iraq. He votes to send them to Iraq but votes no to fund them. But of course, that`s if he shows up to vote which is about once in a blue moon. I guess John Kerry assumes the military finances itself. And people want this guy as Commander in Chief? Yeeeeah Okaaay.
