Do you have any pets that have made an impact on you personally? Kerry: I have always had pets in my life and there are a few that I remember very fondly. When I was serving on a swiftboat in Vietnam, my crewmates and I had a dog we called VC. We all took care of him, and he stayed with us and loved riding on the swiftboat deck. I think he provided all of us with a link to home and a few moments of peace and tranquility during a dangerous time. One day as our swiftboat was heading up a river, a mine exploded hard under our boat. After picking ourselves up, we discovered VC was MIA. Several minutes of frantic search followed after which we thought we'd lost him. We were relieved when another boat called asking if we were missing a dog. It turns out VC was catapulted from the deck of our boat and landed confused, but unhurt, on the deck of another boat in our patrol.
There was no dog?
If the other boat was close enogh for the dog to land on it then it was close enough to be within shouting range at best.
uhhhh........the dog was catapulted off......before he was catapulted on???????
If the other boat was so close to jk's boat that the little dog "catapulted" onto the deck, why didn't the blast shake up the other boat as well?
The dog was in Vietnam. Kerry was in Cambodia.
There is not much of a deck on such boats?
Didn't the Cambodians eat dog?
the other boat called to ask if a dog was missing. that seems to be a long way for a dog to fly through the air...
If the two boats were close enough for the dog to be thrown from one to the other, why would they need to search for minutes for him? The other boat would have seen what happened and known that it was kerry's boat's dog. They also would have been able to shout to them immediately rather than contacting them by radio some amount of time later.
The dog wasn't eating a chocolate chip cookie?
Kinda like the "licorice" story didn't make sense to me.
He jumped into the water then grabbed an oar to fish out the hampsters cage. If he was allready in the water why would he need the oar?
Sounds like a great movie title: "If this is Christmas, I must be in Cambodia."
There is a picture of him in Nam with a little puppy, have seen it many times.
This story is so Outrageous, one has to question the sanity of the Teller, in this case the War Hero!!!
Have any of his crewmates confirmed that a mine exploded under his boat? That's a new one to me. Could it possibly be a LIE!??
There was no mine explosion?
LOL good one!!
Ok then, didn't both Cambodians and Vietnese eat dog? A VC just gave back his dinner?
another "mine blew up under my boat" story and the dog's name wasn't VC it was Rassmann?
