TOUR OF DUTY author and John Kerry historian Doug Brinkley is rushing a piece for the NEW YORKER: to set-the-record-straight on Kerry's Christmas in Cambodia tale, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Kerry has turned to author Brinkley for a "modification" after it was exposed that Kerry was not in Cambodia during Christmas of 1968, as he once claimed from the Senate floor.
The Brinkley piece for the NEW YORKER will now say that Kerry was not in Cambodia during Christmas, but rather in January, publishing sources tell DRUDGE.
MORE
Since the early 1970s, Kerry has spoken and written of how he was illegally ordered to enter Cambodia. Kerry mentioned it in the floor of the Senate in 1986 when he charged that President Reagans actions in Central America were leading the U.S. in another Vietnam. Heres what he said as excerpted from the new book, UNFIT FOR COMMAND:
"I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by the Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the president of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia. I have that memory which is seared--seared--in me."
John ONeils, author of UNFIT FOR COMMAND, comments on the clarification:
John Kerry describes Christmas Eve in Cambodia as a critical turning point in his life. We now know that his story is completely false. My question is how many people do you know have invented a turning point, one that is seared in his memory? While it makes sense for John Kerry to come clean about the Cambodia story, it is one of several tales that the Kerry campaign will have to face and clarify.
By claiming we were engaged in a war crime and crossing international borders, John Kerry damaged the credibility of all the commanding officers above him and insulted the sailors who served with him, said John ONeill, member of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Yeh, but look what (I believe) "rope a dope" did to Ali (Cassius Clay). I saw that fight live against Foreman way back when. It was awful watching Cassius taking all those shots to the midsection, as he seemed to be wasting away on the ropes. Foreman was about the strongest man in the world then.
Bush is taking alot of shots to the midsection now too, and taking a sh*tload of punches below the belt from the mainstream media.
Here's hoping he is able to come off the ropes and deliver those knockout punches he will need. I think he will. Afterall, Kerry has a GLASS JAW ........ and NO BALLS!
A knockout!
There's another thread going that quotes Adm Hoffman. In it he states that he NEVER authorized any such 'secret mission' into Cambodia - and he would have had to 'sign off' on one. And as such - the Adm states as fact that Kerry was never in Cambodia and is lying.

Yes, I found that. Thank God the spinner Doug is not his son!
Makes sense to me. As a LTJG, Kerry is not a free agent. No mission could be undertaken without Command knowledge and approval.
Nixon was inaugarated on Jan 21st that means he had only 10 days to scout out the mission and put Kerry in command. Who would've thought?
I was looking through JFnK's records at this URL: http://news.findlaw.com/hdocs/docs/jkerry/rqsthistserv.pdf
I noticed he made an official request for his military records on May 9, 1986 (answered May 24, 1986). This was the year he made his "seared - seared" speech as recorded in the Congressional record.
I wondered why he wanted them then.
Was the request made BEFORE or AFTER his little bogus speech? Either way, it might show some consiousness of guilt (or at least recognition on his part) that he may have needed them somehow in connection with his speech.
If the request was made BEFORE the speech, he may have known he had to check his official records -- since he'd been spouting horseshit all those years with the Christmas in Cambodia tripe, and was planning to repeat them in the Congressional Record. Then he could be sure there was nothing contradictory in his official records when he spoke to Congress.
Or if the request was made AFTER the Speech, maybe he freaked and was checking to see if had just flat screwed the pooch with his speech.
I can't find the exact date of the Speech, only know it was sometime in 1986.
Some journalist might wanna ask him why he requested his records right then...
Have you considered that sKerry actually wrote the diary after the fact, like he went back and reinacted and filmed himself as the war hero. Am betting on Everything being a fabrication....even the diary. sKerry could clear up so much if he'd just release his military record! ;^)
Yeah. It was January. It wasn't December. It was January. Yeah. That's the ticket.
Don't you remember? That was the year that Christmas was in January!
WOW! Thanks for the info on the Adm. Do you remember the title of that thread by any chance? OK if not. It's enough that the Adm is quoted as saying he would have had to sign off on any secret mission which he did not give.
I'll say it again: Show us the cammie hat that inspires you, sKerry-boy!!
LOL, ROTFL
No, It was bruised AND he claimed a Purple Heart for it!
No, no, not Reagan.
John Kerry's incursion into Cambodia IS ALL GEORGE BUSH'S FAULT!
