Why doesn't Kerry release his records?

Let's say John Kerry's military records disprove everything the Swift boat vets are charging. Let's say you're John Kerry, and you KNOW your records prove you are telling the truth.
Why won't you just release them and make this go away?
For the sake of this one thread, let's pretend that Kerry's records would completely exhonerate him. Why wouldn't he release them?

I'm curious what a pro-Kerry person would say in response to this question. I suspect it would be, "Who cares, Anybody But Bush!" I just don't get why Kerry wouldn't release them if they did not prove everything--what could these records show that he wants to keep private?

They reveal his "performance evaluations", among other negative papers. He's hiding behind them and I don't believe he'll ever allow them to be released. If he's got nothing to hide, he'd let them stand on their own.

Yea and then the Conservatives would just put kerry's record next to President Bush's Record, that wouldn't be fair! George Bush flew Jets! kerry drove a boat (which doesn't exactly require Naval Academy Credentials)

He will let the crescendo build until say 3 days before the election and then produce a set of military records...claiming they're his.
The question is, are the voters gullible enough to give him a pass like they gave Clinton on the bimbo eruptions?

Why is it that politicians have to release their tax records? Is that not more personal than military records? He worked for the government and thus the taxpayers and it should be public record imo.
