COMMAND CONFIDENCE Kerry staff: "Unfit not a problem, media is committed to seeing us win")
THE SPECTATOR ^ | 8/18/04 | WASHINGTON PROWLER

Posted on 08/10/2004 3:12:23 AM PDT by Liz

According to a Kerry campaign source, senior campaign advisers tasked two Washington-based campaign staffers to vet the recently published Unfit for Command.

"The purpose was to compare what that book had with what we had on file from Senator Kerry," says the campaign source, who said that the research project developed more than 75 instances where Kerry's recollections, previous remarks, or writings conflicted with the book's reporting.

"We took some of the most glaring examples, like the Christmas in Cambodia story, and presented them to senior staff, and we assume that those things were put in front of Senator Kerry," says the source. "We haven't heard a word about it. All we were told is that it was being taken care of."

The campaign source said that the book was not considered a "serious" problem for the campaign, because, "the media wouldn't have the nerve to come at us with this kind of stuff," says the source.

"The senior staff believes the media is committed to seeing us win this thing, and that the convention inoculated us from these kinds of stories. The senior guys really think we don't have a problem here."

Regarding VFTR...

We would be pretty PO'ed if the Lefties assassinated our guy, so we should not be threatening to assassinate theirs. That way lies violence and anarchy far worse than could be inflicted by John F'n Kerry.

You mean you trust them now? I gave up trusting them in the 70's

Sometimes I watch the TV news to see who the Yankees have been beating up on recently (thanks Toronto!), but I guess I can get my Norts Spews from the web as well.

Unfortunately you trusted them to begin with somewhere along the line.

It's the same problem we've ALL had at one point in our life.

Now, doesn't that kind of comment give you a warm, fuzzy feeling about the media? Truth doesn't matter as long as our guy wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BINGO..!! I've been saying..that the only thing that makes sense for the Kerry campaign to make the Vietnam "war hero" is that they KNOW the media has their backs.

This just confirms for me...what I really already knew.

Geesh, I hate the DemMarxistSocialistLeftistClymerLyingLibs...

If the MSM can ignore this stinkin' pile in the middle of the Living Room carpet, I will never trust them again.

Why wait? They haven't deserved any trust for many, many years.

There are two stories here:

  1. John Kerry's Viet Nam record.
  2. The above article.

The above article should be our focus. Letters and phone calls to ALL media outlets.

  1. Reference "unamed sources" in previous stories. Specific examples.
  2. Reference this Confidential Source's allegation the media will not investigate because "...the media wouldn't have the nerve to come at us with this kind of stuff,...", IMHO, this is the most damaging assertion in this article. The Kerry Campaign is counting on the media's complicity because they are afraid to investigate.
  3. Perception is reality in politics. If the media does not investigate this for whatever reason, they will be complicit in the disenfranchisement of the American Electorate by witholdng information which could have a direct outcome on the election. This is nothing less than denying the American Electorate the RIGHT to cast an informed vote in November. There is never a justification for that.
  4. Objective journalism demands the presentation of all of the facts without commentary. Who, what, when, where, how. Why is speculation until all facts are presented..
  5. The charges against John Kerry are serious ones as he chose to make his service in Viet Nam the center of his campaign.
  6. The facts as laid out by the Veterans should be presented to us.
  7. The rebuttals made by Kerry should be presented to us
  8. The facts as laid out in documented sources (i.e. Congressional Record), articles and testimonies by John Kerry, and affidavits by those making the allegations.
  9. A call for Kerry to authorize the release of his complete medical record

Then, and only then, can the electorate make an informed decision. If these facts are not presented to us, no matter who is elected, we have have another four years of "Gotcha! Politics." Our nation does not need more "Gotcha" as we are in the most crucial point in our nation's history.

I am of the opinion the charges of the Swift Boat Veterans are between the Veterans and Kerry. It is their fight. Our responsibility is to call for the same forum for the Veterans as Kerry had on his return from Viet Nam.

I believe the Veterans based on the facts which have been presented so far.

I do more harm than good by trying to tell the media "Kerry is a liar!" or "Kerry is a fraud!" I certainly do no good writing or calling the media outlets with charges of bias (true, of course) as it falls on deaf ears.

Our best bet is to contact the mainstream media with requests for facts so that we can elect a President based on factual information. It is irresponsible for voters to:

  1. Rely on John Kerry's word alone
  2. Rely on the Swift Boat Veterans word alone
  3. Rely on the opinions of the pundits
  4. Rely on the opinions of the editorial pages.

Of course, the letters should be respectful. As difficult as it is, refrain from accusations of of bias and lying. Those letters go to that famous "Circular File." Avoid our own conclusions. We are asking for facts. Why give us facts when we have made up our own minds? Stating our conclusions based on what little the media has presented us with would not convince them we need any type of investigation.

Do not limit the letters to the generic head of each outlet. Instead, the letters should go to all journalists in each entity. Does someone have a list at hand?

Once again, John Kerry's Viet Nam service is between the Veterans and Kerry. We do not have a dog in that fight. We need the truth. But we cannot get the truth unless this story gets coverage. That is where our dog fights. That is where we have every right to make demands. No one can question our outrage after they have denied the electorate a forum for the truth.

We have to move quickly. Soon, the media will be all over the Olympics. CFR kicks soon and God only knows what will filter thru the media then.

If we do this right, we will not give them "Karl Rove is behind this" fodder. This has nothing to do with President Bush's campaign. It is our quest for the truth-whereever it may be.

And just wait until President gets elected and his staffers have access to FBI files, ala Madame Hillary.

Our nation would then be ruled by a clique with the media in its pocket, the courts ripe for re-staffing, and with extensive expertise in using blackmail to subdue their opponents and critics.

And this is AMERICA?

Please note that the Vets Against Kerry are planning a rally at the Capital on 12 September! This is after the Olympics and after the GOP convention- a good time to keep this issue of Kerry's accounatbility for his past alive, to get Freepers energized to get out the presence!!!

Yes, the major media is committed to a Democrat in the White House, but the are committed to their own ratings first.

I used to think that....Of course, that is what any logical and prudent thinker WOULD think. But they aren't logical ( from our perspective..) in their hate of Bush, in their hate of the right.

They will do what they think is neccesary to win. The end justify the means for them. They bank on you...thinking like you are. They even use that same argument...because they know that IS the logical way to think.

Don't be fooled.....

For example, Lt. Thomas Wright claimed to be Kerry's senior officer and was among those who asked him to leave. And yet the recent swiftboats vets open letter doesn't include his name among the list of Kerry's "commanders."

Lt. Thomas Wright (21-year Navy vet) was interviewed by Kevin McCullough on his radio show. Lt. Wright was Command Tactical Officer of the patrol in which Kerry served.

The audio is on Kevin McCullough's website (left side) as "Kerry was asked to leave Vietnam."
