COMMAND CONFIDENCE Kerry staff: "Unfit not a problem, media is committed to seeing us win")
THE SPECTATOR ^ | 8/18/04 | WASHINGTON PROWLER

Posted on 08/10/2004 3:12:23 AM PDT by Liz

According to a Kerry campaign source, senior campaign advisers tasked two Washington-based campaign staffers to vet the recently published Unfit for Command.

"The purpose was to compare what that book had with what we had on file from Senator Kerry," says the campaign source, who said that the research project developed more than 75 instances where Kerry's recollections, previous remarks, or writings conflicted with the book's reporting.

"We took some of the most glaring examples, like the Christmas in Cambodia story, and presented them to senior staff, and we assume that those things were put in front of Senator Kerry," says the source. "We haven't heard a word about it. All we were told is that it was being taken care of."

The campaign source said that the book was not considered a "serious" problem for the campaign, because, "the media wouldn't have the nerve to come at us with this kind of stuff," says the source.

"The senior staff believes the media is committed to seeing us win this thing, and that the convention inoculated us from these kinds of stories. The senior guys really think we don't have a problem here."

This comment has got to be a joke. Tell me it's a joke.

Well...is it?

The same media that breathlessly reported how Bush's commanding officer in Alabama didn't remember him but failed to mention he is also suffering from Alzheimer's is now working overtime to smear the reputations of a large group of Vietnam War vets in order to save the reputation of one.

The only thing surprising is to see this verbalized for attribution. The 'Rats know full well the MSM will help Kerry bury this mess, if possible. This is the critical test, IMHO. If the MSM can ignore this stinkin' pile in the middle of the Living Room carpet, I will never trust them again.

Yes, the major media is committed to a Democrat in the White House, but the are committed to their own ratings first. If they think the public is interested in this story, they will turn on SKerry in a New York Minute. The convention only inoculated against insomnia.

I say it's true. There are so many people who don't question the media at all, and they clearly want to elect Kerry. Besides, some of the information (probably just a wee bit) from conservative vets has been exaggerated. For example, Lt. Thomas Wright claimed to be Kerry's senior officer and was among those who asked him to leave. And yet the recent swiftboats vets open letter doesn't include his name among the list of Kerry's "commanders." I think we should keep our story above board, accurate, and carefully-researched.

We know that Kerry came home and opposed the war. We know that he fraternized with people who were supported by Jane Fonda. We know that he said things in public that helped the Viet Cong win the war.

That is enough for us. Stick to the facts we know. Keep bringing them up again and again.

America can't afford to have another Black April 1975.

I wish I had your confidence. The mainstream media would ignore a terror attack on U.S. soil if they thought it might put more votes in the Bush column. Well, okay...it might get mention on their ticker....

That has the ring of truth, because it's the right answer. The Kerry campaign should ignore it, and have Kerry go about his business. Meanwhile, they send out the lawyers, Lanny Davis, Joe Conason, Susan Estrich, and the rest of the snakes. We'll know they're getting worried when Carville and Sidney Blumenthal come off the bench.

So far they are ingnoring it. And the ones who aren't are spinning it Kerry's way. IMHO they are digging their own grave deeper though. The more they do this stuff, the more people become exposed to what they are, a DNC propaganda machine. Eventually there will be a tipping point and Americans won't put up with being lied to anymore. Well that's my hope anyway.

I don't EVER want to hear any Lib try to tell me from this point forward that the media is biased toward the RIGHT. That the media is controlled by Conservatives. They just confirmed the opposite here.

"We took some of the most glaring examples, like the Christmas in Cambodia story, and presented them to senior staff, and we assume that those things were put in front of Senator Kerry," says the source. "We haven't heard a word about it. All we were told is that it was being taken care of."

And now, ladies and gentlemen, may I direct your attention to this lovely story, about how the DNC has apparently put together "Brown Book" collections of personal information on each of the Swift Boat Vets themselves, private citizens, mind you, to provide the news media in an attempt to blackmail/embarass them enough to pull the ad. These Brown Books that are being provided to certain reporters "contain damaging military records, personal credit histories, medical histories, psychiatric histories, divorce records, you name it,” says one source from the story. Private information about private citizens, not elected officials, dug up by investigators and provided to reporters for political reasons! Yeah, it's being taken care of, all right. With "secret police" style tactics. Woe to John Q. Public if the trial lawyer and Mr. "I Don't Fall Down" get into the highest office in the land!

This had better be a problem!! Thanks for the ping, Dio! I can't believe that the Rats have actually come out in the open and admitted the press is fully behind sKerry.

I can't wait to see their 'hero' after W turns him inside out in the debates.

On a side note: I have spent the last four hours studying the Rats platform. (Don't do that after eating a meal.) After many dry heaves, I felt like really trying to be ill, and went to the Communist Party USA's web site. That helped....Now that I'm done cleaning my rifles to clear my thoughts, I've discovered something quite interesting: The CPUSA's list of "struggles" is a direct match for the DNC's platform. In other words, the Communist Party USA and the Rats are indeed one and the same - hand in glove.

My tagline is correct.

THAT deserves a table of some sort, and wide dissemination.
