Unless voters have the details, the explanation, there is little for them to latch onto.

I think the ad is very powerful and maybe if we all contribute they will produce more. Maybe if we all equip ourselves with the available fact sheets and go door to door we can help get the message out in the detail you desire.

I, for one, couldn't be happier to have the opportunity to support these men who have lived too long in a shadow created by Hollywood and public schools in this country.

There has never been an election in my lifetime more important or with more opportunity for each of us to contribute in a first hand way.

Both situations couldn't have happened. Did Kerry's OITC, Thomas Wilton, along with a few other officers, corner Kerry and tell him that he was eligible to leave vietnam due to his 3 purple hearts, and that they thought he should take advantage of that option due to his insubordinate actions -- or was it Kerry's idea?

Even if Kerry simply relented to the pressure of his superiors, he's still a skunk for using phony purple hearts to avoid 243 days of combat in Vietnam, as the swiftees state. I just think that the actual truth should be confirmed and revealed, especially when the concept of Kerry as a fraudlent war hero is being presented to a public that thinks the guy is Audie Murphy.

BTW Mia, I do understand where you are coming from. Middle of the roaders might be predisposed to think most veterans hate Kerry, and might gild the lily some. There will have to be substantiation somewhere, soon, to drive the nail in the coffin.

I just saw the ad on Fox. Kerry is finished if enough people see this. The doctor in particular was a KO blow. I figured Bush by 10 points, but I may have to revise upwards. What were the Dems thinking to nominate this turkey? And what was Kerry thinking to put Viet Nam front and center in his campaign?

Another important tidbit is that 2 of the officers, Commander Hibbard, and Captain George Elliott, have their signatures at the bottom of Kerry's Fitness Reports that are posted on Kerry's web site. It's got to be awkward on Kerry's part when documents he makes available, presumably because he thinks they help his cause, are signed by people who are currently calling him unfit to command.

We have to consider that we are not looking at the ad with the skeptical eye of the undecided voter, or, worse, the kerry voter. And these are the people the ad must reach.

What we see as powerful, the uncommitted or anti-Bush voter sees as nasty partisan hatemongering.

Only supportive information that fleshes out the accusations will elevate the argument. The liar label, alone, simply won't cut it.

This ad is unassailable. The credibility of the swifties far exceeds Kerry. Kerry can't credibly claim it's a Bush team hit-piece. Kerry can't attack the vets because:

1) They're vets, the exact image which Kerry has been trying to associate to himself.

2) The swifties have nothing to gain by telling their story.

3) Kerry risks bringing mainstream media attention to the story by reacting to it.

The Kerry team will be up late tonight.
