Cincinnati Enquirer ^

The television show Cops stopped filming in Cincinnati today after council members objected to what the show might depict.

Cincinnati Police Chief Tom Streicher changed his mind Thursday about letting the Fox TV show crews continue to film, which they had started Tuesday.

Unbelievable happenings in Cincinnati. The two council members that are first to criticize our city police and by default encourage the malcontents who tear down the city get help from the son of the RINO Senator Mike Dewhine.

Anyone who has see the FOX-TV show COPS know it portrays law enforcement in a positive light and god knows the Cincinnati cops need the support and morale boost. This has got to be the reason for the banning of the show as it would show them doing their job under incredible circumstances with no support from our "Strong" mayor former Congressman Charlie Luken and the rest of the city clowncil. Cincinnati is on pace to have the most murders in a year in it's history and these guys worry a TV show will hurt the image? There can't be a worse run city in the nation.

Anybody who watches "Cops" can also enjoy watching the violation of the Constitution that occurs roughly every 5 minutes.

Well, anybody who watches "Cops" sees the kind of hassles and low lifes that cops have to deal with every day -- for me, the show makes me care less and less about whether the officers follow every single letter of the law.

On "Cops" they follow the law:

Have you ever watched a British version of Cops? I saw one where the cops were in a high speed pursuit of a guy on a motorcycle, lots of cutting between cars, weaving, very dangerous.

When the cops finally caught up with the guy they scolded him up one side and down the other, gave him a ticket and sent him on his merry way.

Had that been a US Cops show the guy would have been tackled off the bike, maced then had his face rubbed in the asphalt before they cuffed him and threw him in the car.

From what I've seen of the show I'd say it portrays a very negative image of the police. The show is nothing but drug war propaganda, and I'm amazed that they actually publicize the way police routinely intimidate citizens into allowing searches that ordinarily require a warrant.

I THINK it was Cincinnati that had a city council member who threw a tizzy when pictures of the top 10 bad guys wanted by the cops for major crimes was published in the paper. Turns out all 10 were black faces...someone thought that looked bad...

Hey, if the cop asks a few times and they're stupid enough to give in, then so be it.

I don't like police in general, but I love watching Cops the show.

I want to take a moment and thank all of my fellow Officers for the thankless job they do. Quite often people hate Officers, at least until someone with a shotgun is kicking down the door. Miraculously, we have suddenly become the greatest group of people on Earth.

The only thing I learned watching "Cops" is that it is apparently impossible to get arrested if you wear a shirt and don't have a mullet

Softens up the populace - when it goes down in the neighborhood: "must be one of them(gunlovers, patriots, tax evaders, home-schoolers, christians, freepers, etc., nothin' to see here, close the door and turn off the lights."
