Anyone who has see the FOX-TV show COPS know it portrays law enforcement in a positive light and god knows the Cincinnati cops need the support and morale boost. This has got to be the reason for the banning of the show as it would show them doing their job under incredible circumstances with no support from our "Strong" mayor former Congressman Charlie Luken and the rest of the city clowncil. Cincinnati is on pace to have the most murders in a year in it's history and these guys worry a TV show will hurt the image? There can't be a worse run city in the nation.
Anybody who watches "Cops" can also enjoy watching the violation of the Constitution that occurs roughly every 5 minutes.
What's worse is that, what,. 95% of the crimes are "black-on-black"..
Have you ever watched a British version of Cops? I saw one where the cops were in a high speed pursuit of a guy on a motorcycle, lots of cutting between cars, weaving, very dangerous.
When the cops finally caught up with the guy they scolded him up one side and down the other, gave him a ticket and sent him on his merry way.
Had that been a US Cops show the guy would have been tackled off the bike, maced then had his face rubbed in the asphalt before they cuffed him and threw him in the car.
From what I've seen of the show I'd say it portrays a very negative image of the police. The show is nothing but drug war propaganda, and I'm amazed that they actually publicize the way police routinely intimidate citizens into allowing searches that ordinarily require a warrant.
I THINK it was Cincinnati that had a city council member who threw a tizzy when pictures of the top 10 bad guys wanted by the cops for major crimes was published in the paper. Turns out all 10 were black faces...someone thought that looked bad...
I want to take a moment and thank all of my fellow Officers for the thankless job they do. Quite often people hate Officers, at least until someone with a shotgun is kicking down the door. Miraculously, we have suddenly become the greatest group of people on Earth.
The only thing I learned watching "Cops" is that it is apparently impossible to get arrested if you wear a shirt and don't have a mullet
Double-barrelled Mega-PING! to both lists! If you want on, FReepmail me!
I thought we weren't allowed to post articles from The Onion. ;)
In all likelihood, that is exactly why the race-baiting Cincinatti pols threw them out.
You're right...it portrays them as the out of control jack-booted thugs that they are.
Yep, Cincinnati has become a real toilet. I will avoid the place at all costs.
Queen City Ping
I have serious problems with DeWine. Something about him just is not right.
Albuquerque also is not letting COPS film any more episodes there. The Mayor says it's because it casts a negative light on the city. I say it because it shows that we have the world's ugliest hookers. (Not just my opinion, this same sentiment was echoed by a former city DA on a call in show.)
I suspect Chief Streicher will be leaving by the end of this year.
Alicia Reece is (as usual) the primary "suspect".
I moved from Cincy in 1999 to Georgetown Ohio. Haven't seen a news story since that has caused me to regret that decision.
Understatement of the century. I was watching the Stanley Cup finals game last night when they came in with "breaking news" of a mini-riot in progress and my first thought was "this is news? There is one of these a day, don't interupt until there are a dozen dead and the toll is rising." Cincinnati is the new Hellmouth.
You could have had Lee P. Brown as your mayor for 6 yrs!
Did you hear about Houston's Crime Lab?
Did you hear about Houston's traffic?
Did you hear about Houston's Pension Fund?
Did you hear about Lee P. Brown's Air Mileage?
Did you hear about Houston's Fire Dept staffing/management?
Did you hear about Houston's Police Dept staffing/management?
There's more, but it's depressing.
