Anybody who watches "Cops" can also enjoy watching the violation of the Constitution that occurs roughly every 5 minutes.

Occasionally, but more often the people are incredibly stupid and just let cops search their cars, person, etc.

COP: "Do you have anything illegal in your vehicle?"

PERP: "No."

COP: "You don't mind if I take a look, do you?"

PERP: "Go ahead - I ain't got nothin'!"

132 and Bush, I've got him at gunpoint.

Well, anybody who watches "Cops" sees the kind of hassles and low lifes that cops have to deal with every day -- for me, the show makes me care less and less about whether the officers follow every single letter of the law.

Yup. The "huffing" dens are particularly depressing.

My favorite was the woman who flagged down a cop and complained that another woman had "ripped her off." When the cops asked what happened she said, "I gave her my last $20 for some crack and all she gave me was this worthless plaster. I want my money back!"

That just bolsters my point about people wanting to see someone in a worse situation than themselves. It fits my mother in law, I'm afraid.

Until it's you on the receiving end of a cop attitude.

It's funny because it's true!

I'd suggest doing a right-click on the link and choosing "Save Target As" - that'll save the movie on your computer.

I've never had a problem during my encounters with the police -- I'm polite & respectful, and things go well. The cops I know aren't looking to create trouble -- they just respond when trouble is handed to them.

Anyone who has see the FOX-TV show COPS know it portrays law enforcement in a positive light ...

You're right...it portrays them as the out of control jack-booted thugs that they are.

Yeah, who needs that pesky Constitution anyways?

The show is nothing but drug war propaganda,

Right. Ashcroft invented the show to further his gun control agenda ...

I'm not sure what constitutional violations you're seeing on Cops. But for me personally, I don't really care if every letter of the law gets applied to the typical low-lifes that I see on that show. I think the police have a very tough job -- I admire what they do.

"The cops I know..."

Dude, you've obviously never been fed into the meat grinder. And it isn't the cops you know, it's the cops you don't know. I have a half dozen relatives that are cops, some of them 3rd generation. I used to work with cops and used to come in contact with cops several times a day. Most of them are good guys. Enough of them aren't. Enough of them would feed you into the meatgrinder without a second thought because they were only following orders. My ex-father-in-law was a cop. He's the one that told me that the people at Wace "were just dirtbags and they got what they deserved."

You gotta wake up and consider that the way things are going, everybody is going to become a "dirtbag" sooner or later - that includes you.

The local state cops use a variation of this. They stop someone for a moving violation. After talking to the "perp" and sizing up the situation, the cops tell him that he is free to go. The cops then start walking away. They then turn around, come back to the perp's car, and ask, " You wouldn't have anything illegal in there, would you?" The correct response should be, " You told me I'm free to go. Goodbye." Inevitably, the "perp" says,"No,and the cop responds, " Mind if I search your car?" At this point the perp says, "Go ahead." We read about the ones who had contraband every week in our weekly newspaper.

Ok. So what is your solution to policing society? You don't like cops-jack booted thugs- sorry, I forgot.
How would you deal with: Homeless, mentals, drug users, drug dealers, burglars, thieves, rapists, identity theft, murderers, child molesters, batterers, drunk drivers, vandals, arsonists, car jackers, gangs, fraud, elderly abuse, embezzlers, disputes, accidents, medical calls and Democrats? (Sorry, the list went on so long I forgot I already listed mentals)
Liberals are great at complaining, they don't offer alternatives. I assume you are not a liberal, so what is your solution?

Lets keep the Contitution and just do away with cops. I'm sure liberal lawyers and the ACLU can keep society safe. I don't think there should be any laws and everybody should be able to behave anyway they want to. Let the victims and the criminals fight it out. I am sure they would play fair with each other. "We don't need no sticking badges". If we do this, I guarentee that will make a good TV show and we might get to watch it if no one steals our TV sets.

I want to take a moment and thank all of my fellow Officers for the thankless job they do.

The loudest cop-haters (in person and on the 'Net), in my experience, are those folks who are but one routine traffic stop away from an extended stretch in the Graybar Hilton.
