While the nuts were gathering in the Beverly Hilton for their childish "Hate Bush" meeting, the America-loving, President Bush-loving folks from all around were joining up with signs and cheers on Wilshire Boulevard, across the street from the hotel.
And it wasn't just us Freepers-- the very good looking College Republicans from Loyola Marymount, Ted Hayes, and other happy people who heard about the rally from all the talk shows today (thanks talk show hosts!) were out there with us. Signs were upbeat: "Luvya Dubya", "L.A. Loves W.", "Real Men Love G.W." (that was Outraged, who was dressed in his superman costume), "President Bush is My Hero", and of course there were lots of American Flags.
As RonDog waved with his big Mickey Mouse hand and we waved our signs chanting "President Bush!" and "Five More Years!" TONS of cars passed us, many of them HONKING THEIR HORNS in support-- much more than I had expected, actually. I keep wanting to believe that more and more people are rejecting the liberal trash in LA; my experience at rallies over the years suggests to me that there is a changing tide. Yes, we got a lot of middle fingers-- one of the most common forms of expression from liberals-- but on the BIRD-OMETER, with the rally in front NBC studios during the Al Gore hissy fit being a 10, this ranked a 4. At that rally we got a lot of screaming curse words as well, but at this one, the anger was actually WAY, WAY toned down with a few "He's an idiot" comments and 'thumbs down' but the RAGE wasn't there.
Lots of media showed up: KTLA 5, CBS 2, channels 9 and 11 as well, plus a CBS from Sacramento.
The energy was really good, and, although the Hate Bush attendees came in through the backway from the parking garage and avoided us, there were a few loitering in the lobby who could see us, and well, if they watch the news tonight, I guess they'll get an earful.
Look for pictures from Freeper "rantblogger."
P.S. I saw two people give us the finger with one hand, while holding their phones in the other-- while DRIVING.

Gathering to woo rich liberals fires up critics
A meeting this week of Hollywood big shots has critics fuming. Conservatives called it a "Hate Bush" gathering; others saw it as a bid to undermine campaign finance reform.

12/4/2003BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - It was planned as the kind of evening Hollywood is known for: a gathering of deep-pocketed entertainment-industry liberals to discuss a strategy for electing a Democratic president next year.
Associated Press
Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus helped co-host a Hollywood event for deep-pockets liberals. But by the time guests arrived at the Beverly Hilton on Tuesday night, the meeting had become a cause celebre among conservatives, who attacked it as a symbol of excessive liberal rage toward President Bush.
Advocates of campaign finance reform, meanwhile, worried that the meeting exemplified efforts to dodge new campaign finance laws banning unlimited political contributions...

Ocean Advocacy Group Honors Hillary Clinton
(She takes opportunity to bash Bush, of course)

LOS ANGELES - An ocean advocacy group honored Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Wednesday night during a star-studded event.
The Washington-based environmental group said it chose Clinton, D-N.Y., because she has championed environmental and conservation issues.
.... Since she was elected in 2000, Clinton has fought to protect New York City residents from potentially harmful World Trade Center rubble. She also has prodded Congress to reauthorize a special tax to pay for Superfund toxic waste cleanups.
Before accepting the Ocean Partners award, Clinton criticized President Bush's environmental record.
"I think we have lost some ground," she said. "We passed some good legislation back in 2000, when my husband was still president."
She said the Bush administration was adopting policies harmful to the world's oceans.
"Just today the administration decided they would ease up on rules governing mercury emissions," she said, referring to rules that would allow power plant owners to postpone the installation of technology designed to reduce mercury pollution. ...

Well said.
I would like to know what Ted Hayes had to say in all those interviews? His website says that he formed his "dome village" when a "conservative administration" was in power. Hinting that conservatives are the cause of homelessness.LOL!I have never known a homeless advocate to support a republican!
What is up with this?
You are not alone in your concern, or your amazement that Ted could be on OUR side......but he is our "secret weapon" - on MOST issues, like supporting the troops, and supporting President Bush.

Why would a libertarian ever vote Republican? Bruce Bartlett explains it here.
I don't know whether to file this under sad, pathetic, or desperate, but here it is: Hate Bush 12/2, wherein liberals explain why Bush is responsible for everything from Gov. Mel Carnahan's plane crash to snow in winter.
The Freepers came through to host a "Luvya Dubya" rally just across the street from the above-referenced embarassing display of pseudo-intellectual Idiotaranism.
