Both the Democratic Party establishment and the GOP have been flat-footed in their responses to the Democratic Socialists of America and their “Summer of Love.”
The Democrats, led by invertebrate castratos like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, have mostly ducked when asked about the DSA’s plans to destroy the US Constitution, nationalize 90% of the economy and decapitate our mechanisms of law and order.
They’ve taken cover behind the empty “Big Tent” lie as radical DSA members and allies, like Michigan’s Abdul El-Sayed and Colorado’s Melat Kiros, triumph in Democratic primaries.
The GOP, for its part, has been mostly content with name-calling — likening DSAers to such historical villains as Fidel Castro and Mao Zedong — rather than countering them with a clear contrasting set of policy ideas.
House Speaker Mike Johnson has a chance to help both Republicans and moderate Democrats get to a more productive place: When his members return from summer recess on Monday, Johnson can bring to the House floor a privileged Resolution of Disapproval of the socialists’ nihilistic platform and rampant bigotry.
That would serve an opening for 100 or so moderate House Democrats to declare emancipation from their party’s lobotomized groupthink politburo — the same one that told us then-President Joe Biden was fit for a second term.
The Democratic brand is already toxic, underwater by 25 percentage points in the latest CNN poll.
Moderates like New Jersey’s Reps. Josh Gottheimer (NJ), Tom Suozzi (Long Island) and Jared Moskowitz (Fla.) — all members of the self-proclaimed pragmatic New Democrat Coalition caucus — presumably don’t want party leaders marching them off the cliff to a Marxist siren song.
By forcing an up-or-down vote, Johnson gives them a clear chance at a break they quietly want.

How about a simple rule change that communists won’t be seated in the next Congress.
I think I would rather have him and Thune spend time passing a budget and the SAVE act. But then I also would rather have had them do that than taking yet another vacation.
The “latest CNN polls” show Trump with an approval rating of 33% overall, and a disapproval rating of 65%. Given the MOE, that means Trump is opposed 2:1 by multiple polls covering the entire country.
Polling is meaningless at this point.

below the average federal full-time civilian employee compensation of the 100,000 largest recipients, 35%,
below the average federal full-time civilian employee compensation of the 10,000 largest recipients, 40%.
RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY TAX AMENDMENT
Levies on any residential property of less than 2799 square feet of finished living space shall be no higher than the 2019 dollar amounts for the property, or for a newer or since resold property no higher than what it would have been levied at for 2019 if it lacked owner specific tax breaks, increased by 3% per calendar year since 2019 and by any percentage increase to its finished living space.

Fighting in Congress to send middle-class income and property taxation cap constitutional amendments to the states would make Congress turn deep red come 2027.
These amendments would serve to reunite the United States.

There is zero percent chance this happens and if somehow it does go to a vote, the usual suspects in the GOP will vote against it.
Keep in mind that no Demagogic Party politician in or out of office can be trusted -- their only loyalty is to their party brand and their personal pursuit of unfettered power.
PDJT doesn't waste his money campaigning until the last month. He knows that that's when people make up their minds.
There hasn't been a campaign in my lifetime where the Democrats weren't killing the Republicans three months, six months, a year before the election. Any poll that's free is worth what you pay for it.
In 1984, Mondale never had a chance, but the polls put him ahead all the way until election day.
Why give the democrats an opportunity to distance themselves from the communists?
Any action that shifts power to the Federal central government and away from state and local government is conceding to the Democrats.
The popular cutting of the Federal government is in cutting FRAUD WASTE ABUSE. We see it everywhere. We accept it as Business-As-Usual. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Johnson's "power move" would take very little time to start and complete.
Withe the number of R politicians available there is no reason why they cannot do all three.
Unless, of course, too many of those R's are compromised. In which case, Johnson needs to challenge those R's so they be removed by the voters.
I could swear I read 20 years ago that Cornyn (T) was either a member of the DSA or was supported by the DSA.
If true, look at how long it took to get rid of him.
The last thing the Democratic Party wants in the mid-term election is a debate about actual issues.

There is merit to your proposal, however, I do not want Income Tax ensconced in the Constitution. It would be great to completely eliminate it one day and your amendment would prohibit that.
