A maniac reportedly attacked a US war plane with a hatchet at a major civilian airport in Ireland Saturday, causing extensive damage at a controversial stopover site for American military.

He snuck into restricted space at Shannon Airport in County Clare, where the US Air Force’s $75 million C130 Hercules military transport aircraft was parked, local outlet The Journal reported.

The lunatic — in his 40s but yet to be identified — climbed onto the wing of the plane and started hacking away at the wing and the fuselage, causing extensive damage, according to GB News.

The shocking attack caused the airport to close for just under 30 minutes, before police from the Garda Síochána arrested the man.

The C-130 Hercules is a transport aircraft that is used in a wide range of military situations.

The lunatic — in his 40s but yet to be identified —

I have to say again....he's not technically and legally a lunatic, free from going to prison under our faulty legal system, ready to plead "not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect" or "insanity" at the time of the crime.

Snuck in..got on the wing of a C-130 which isn’t easy and hacked away with a hatchet. He should be hacked to death with the same hatchet.

Can a military person explain why we have so many guarded and unprotected aircraft. I get the impression the average garaged car has better security than our $100 million aircraft.

From the article: ...at a controversial stopover site...

Military aircraft don't belong at civilian airports, except maybe for emergency landings and air shows. Especially now during a war.

This is also a major issue with not declaring war. Neutral nations have no business hosting warplanes for one side or the other of an armed conflict.

Doesn’t the military have people protecting anything anymore?

Did guarding everything fade away over the last few decades?

Enemy combatant, take him to GITMO for the full treatment. Nationally irrelevant as it’s.against an American asset outside the USA thus enemy combatant.

Or let the alphabet boys have him and put them on a ghost prison ship till they beg for death and a burial at sea.

People always let criminals like this off the hook by immediately calling them lunatics or crazy. They are just doctrinaire communists doing what communists do.

No lunacy in what they do. Quite the opposite.

Too bad USAF security forces didn’t shoot his ass off the aircraft.

Now he’s going to cost us more money to keep his worthless ass alive.

"Shannon Airport has been the site of regularly held demonstrations demanding the Irish government inspect US military planes for weapons destined for Israel, the outlet reported."

Well, he’s in Ireland, so they’ve probably fed him, cleaned him up and sent him home, by now.
