Arlin Dease sold Nottoway to Paul Ramsay an Australian health care billionaire of Sydney, Australia, in 1985, after he had stayed at the property while in the area for business. Ramsay, who bought the plantation for $4.5 million, spent more than $15 million over a decade on the property.

21st century

Under Ramsay's tenure, Nottoway has become a resort destination. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and is a popular tourist attraction in southern Louisiana.

On May 15, 2025, a fire broke out in the southern portion of Nottaway Plantation, severely damaging much of the main house. Several structures were spared, including the Boys' House (a former bachelor pad for the Randolph sons), the Overseer's Cottage, surrounding cottages, the Randolph Ballroom, and the Randolph family cemetery. Initially, the current owners of Nottoway had stated they plan to rebuild and restore the historic mansion.

While the fire was initially contained to the south bedroom wing of the mansion, embers reignited by 6:00 PM CDT, spreading to the main block of the mansion. The main house was a total loss by 7:30 PM. The concrete foundations comprising the ground floor and remnants of the southeast side of the mansion are all that remain.

Now that it has been total destroyed, the owners may be reconsidering the rebuilding, based upon the use of the word initially of that sentence.
