I don’t keep up with what Disney is doing. What they did to the Star Wars franchise is unforgivable. Yet, the new Snow White movie starring Rachel Zegler, a pro-Hamas clown, is getting bombed harder than Gaza right now, as critics and theater-goers are decidedly not watching this movie:

I'd say that flat midget Zegler was an airhead, but her head is so empty there isn't even air in it.
"Don't crush that dwarf; hand me the pliers."
You’d think the shareholders would get tired of the bombs, but I guess not
That’s why they keep the images so close. Do you want to get up in court and try to prove that your Snow White in a blue and yellow dress with a bob cut is based on the animated version not the live action version? Sure they don’t truly renew the copyright, but they make a new copyright that’s difficult to differentiate from the old one it might as well be a renewal.
I’d see it on LSD.
I’d prefer going to bullfights.
One is a cartoon and the other is a live person. I don’t think they can win on that.
Its all about the message and DEI in everything. What if I told you the BBC remade Henry the VIII and had Anne Boleyn as black. You would think it stupid, but they actually did that and that is a real historical person.
The BBC also on the show Doctor Who had Isaac Newton as black.
If they did any shooting in Great Britain, it will get released as it is the law there to get film credits.
That’s how we found out they lost over 100 million on The Little Mermaid, all the while making people think they had managed to break even.
This one is going to be a real bloodbath.
But how do you tell the difference in a Lego? How do you tell the difference in a drawing? How do you tell the difference in a knitting pattern? Really anything that isn’t a straight screen capture they just won’t be different.
That’s a lot of the reason these Disney remakes get so lambasted critically. They go way out of their way to to make a distinction without a difference. Because that lack of difference is the goal. These are cookie cutter versions of the classics trying to make it so there’s no real difference in the merch. Everything the critics complain about is the point.
But the studio gets only some of that money. Domestic Box Office X 50% + Foreign Box Office X 40% (varies, but smaller percentage than domestic), = $43,000,000 X 50% + $44,000,000 X 40% = $21,500,000 + $17,600,000 = $39,100,000.
If the film is Godzilla Minus One, made for $15,000,000, that is a great opening weekend. Snow White has been billed at $270,000,000, which is type of statement called a lie, but even if you use that number, and add in just $30,000,000 for marketing, you get a total cost of $300,000,000.
Unless a movie opens in very few theaters, or is otherwise a sleeper hit, made popular by word of mouth, the opening weekend is typically the best, being 25%-40% of the total box office. Even if we assume this film has unusually long legs, and its opening weekend is only 20% of the total 5 X $39,100,000 = $195,500,000.
That means a loss of $105,000,000. But the actual costs is tens of millions higher, the final studio take will likely be at least ten million lower, and much of this money has been tied up for years, meaning the studio has lost at least ten million more, if you factor in the cost of money.
Zegler is giving off some Shrek vibes in that photo.
Kids at those ages like stories where the villain dies a horrible death.
And as a morality tale it could be worse, be nice to your step siblings, you never know where they might end up.
One of the best books to read about what fairy tales are in lives is Bruno Bettelheim’s USES OF ENCHANTMENT.
The fairy tales can help strengthen children and adults during difficult times in their lives. The true story of Rapunzel is a story of overcoming and maturing.
I find they are very useful.
What a joke. Actually Dr. Who has become a joke, playing off its former glory.
I saw one about a year ago about King Arthur, and he lived in sixth century Britain. In this revisionist Britain, half the folks were Negro. Even Queen Guinevere was portrayed as a Negro. Nuts.
I'd like to remake "Roots" with Kunta Kinte portrayed as a pale freckled face ginger Scotsman.
